Going away...
Posted Dec 6, 2004
Yes that is right you get two days without me (maximum) as I have a Uni interview on Wednesday and so am heading off to it tomorrow. On Wed I have a nice test at 9:30am and then two interviews, one at 3pm and one at 4pm...
It'll be interesting though; I get to stay at the College I am applying to, so I'll get a feel for the place which will give me some idea whether I would accept them if they want me! Can I ask any ACEs reading this to keep an eye on my personal space in case of newbies replying to me (Anthea, that means you! Time to earn your keep (jokes))
See you all on Thursday!

University Applications
Posted Oct 30, 2004
Another year, another set of exams. Well, that is what the school system is like these days! I vaguley remember exams at primary school... though back then it wasn't until year 3-4 I really started understanding what they were. But SATS and internal school exams (so they could determine who needed extra help, and so they could train us for the SATS) meant that certainly from year 3 (and possibly before) I've had exams each year. And so here I am, the final year of school, the final set of exams. Three years, three major sets of exams. Fun for the whole family!!
Despite the fact I still haven't even sat the A level mocks I have already finished my UCAS applications (and to anyone else out there who hasn't I feel your pain!!) and I have so far had a response from one University (East Anglia, accepting me if I get AAB! In their prospectus they only wanted ABB-ABC!!!). I'm sure other responses will follow and then I'll have to make my final choices.
For those of you who don't know, and I can't actually recall mentioning it to more than 2-3 people here, I am applying for a degree in Philosophy. The worrying thing is that I nearly didn't take it at AS level, and it was only in the week before term started that I decided to change subjects and take it. And now here I am prepared to dedicate the next 3 years to it... such is life I guess!
In other news I am currently on half term (though that ends on monday ) and am still taking all four of my subjects; my school talked me into it . Though when we get to the mocks I'll decide if I want to drop anything or not (basically if I feel taking a fourth isn't giving me time to concentrate on the other three... or if I *still* haven't started my history coursework by then (which I've been able to start since the beginning of last summer holidays ) I'll drop history, (or something else if History is going very well, which is doubtful)). This past week has flown by, though without me doing much in it; my friends are away, working (why do people work so much to earn money to use when they go out, and not realise they are doing so much work they don't have time to go out????) or have German exchange partners over. So all in all my life is plodding along at its normal dull rate!
Can't wait till Uni - party every night (ok I can dream!)

Its my birthday!!

Yes that's right folks in just under 7 hours time (on the 30th August) I will be 17 .
Strange to think that if I'd been born 48 hours later I would just be starting year 12 this year, rather than leaving it... also it would mean that insteda of being the youngest in the year I'd be the oldest!
And... yeah that is pretty much all this journal entry has to say

New Mini in: Skenvoy gets his AS results
Posted Aug 19, 2004
4 A's.
Its a mini adventure.
It is so tempting to leave it at that! About 2 seconds ago I wasn't hyper... unfortunatly I now am hence my great opening, I guess re-calling opening the envelope re-filled me with the nervous energy I had earlier thats probably not a good thing... Anyway, the rest of this entry is a break down of my day that I'm only writing to get rid of excess energy, so feel free to skip it
So lets go through the day, I woke up at 9 am (far too early; only 7 hours sleep! I normally sleep to 12 or 1 now ) and did the normal morning routine. At about 10:35 I headed off to school and at 11am I was standing in line to collect my results (the bloke next to me in line, when asked, said he hoped he got "two D's, an E and a U; D U D E!").
Having recieved the envelope a group of my mates clustered together waiting to open the results together. I get distracted for one second and what happens? They opened them without me! Still upon reading my results the first two I saw (and for about a minute the only ones I could find) were History and Philosophy and Ethics, the two that I thought would be B's... seeing A's at the top of the paper was... frankly amazing; as one of my friends pointed out "awwwwww, you're shaking"
Anyway a minute and much paper shuffling later I finally found the other two results and they were also A's. So... yeah I was sort of shocked and very happy.
So many group hugs, pictures and other group type things (not like that you sick people, honestly can't I write something without you reading into it) me and two mates headed round mine to have manly talks, play computer games, make 60 second films using a digital camera which were very worrying, watch the olympics etc. The rest of the day passed in much the same vain, though we did switch location at one time (ohhhh, location change!).
And that was that really; my hyper energy bled off... but now it is back... o well, feel sorry for the people I'm talking to on MSN right now!
Well I can't think of anything else to say... so thats it for now! I think I'll be dropping History next year (get out of the coursework and away from my teacher who has tried to force me to write essays her way, I did in one of the History papers to see what happened and guess what? It was my worst paper! Why can't teachers let me do things my way?), as to Uni I have no idea what I'll do or where I'll go. Subject wise it is between Philosophy and Psychology, Uni wise I have no idea yet!
I hope everyone else got the results they hoped for
And now I've got a mountain of summer homework I have to get on with as I can't use the "I'll do it when I get my results so I don't do homework for the subject I'm going to drop" excuse anymore

Well here we are again...
Posted Aug 17, 2004
48 hours and I'll have my AS level results (for those of you who don't know what they are they are used with my predicted grades next year by Universities to decide if they will initially offer me a place). My predicted grades are all A's, but I will be surprised if I get them as since the exams I have realised where I have made some massive mistakes in History, and as I said at the time the exam board mucked up the Philosophy paper. Meh.
According to our teachers next year will be much easier than this one as we have less to get through. The reason we have less to get through? 'cos after the exams were over they made us do about half of next years courses this year!!!!!! Still after thursday (when I get the afore mentioned results) I can work out which subject I will drop and therefore which homework I don't need to do !
O well, good luck to all the other people still awaiting their results *mutters about lucky Scottish people who already have them*, I'll post them here when I get them.
