Oh my PC!

Oh my PC! (Soon)
ARGHHHHH!
My PC recently gave me the most uninformative warning I've ever seen.
The dialogue box had a red circle with a white cross in it (X-shaped) and an okay button.
ARGHHHHHHHHH!!!!!

How much more unhelpful could that possibly be?
The worst part about it was that it meant that there was something terribly wrong because nothing would work!

I figured out it must be something to do with dial-up networking, so we uninstalled all the modem drivers, etc. Once we did that the thing worked! Yay? No.

I reinstalled my drivers and the whole problem came back again.
Well, a week, lots of very helpful conversations and consulting, and a lot of money later I have my PC working again. It's almost a completely different PC, as it has a new motherboard, new modem, new RAM, and a new case! It is working, that's the main thing.

I don't want to start a debate here, but I think the next time I purchase a new computer, it'll be a Mac.

Hope everyone else's week has been fine.

This Decade

What do we call our current decade? We've had the 20's, 30's, 40's 50's, 60's, 70's, 80's, 90's and now. . . The 0's? (naughties?)

When they put out a cd of hits from this current decade what will they call it.

At clubs, people have 60's nights, 70's nights, 80's nights. What will people look back and call this decade?

Any thoughts people?

Stupid People

Man, people can be stupid!

Take this incident at work yesterday.

Stupid person comes over to me at the information desk,
SP: 'Excuse me, but are those two computers over there working?'

Me: 'Um, you mean the ones with the "Out of Order" signs on them?'

SP: 'Yes.'

Me: 'No, they're not working.'

???!!!smiley - erm

Another one recently.

SP: 'I've been looking my account up on the internet, and I can't seem to see the books I've borrowed. Only the ones I have on hold.'

I investigate his card, only to find he hasn't borrowed any books!

My space

Well, I don't know about anyone else, but I'd gotten tired of what was on my space. Unfortunately I can't really think of anything terribly witty to replace it with, hence the above.

The old brain is working in terribly low gear at the moment, in fact I think it may be hibernating. Possibly it has taken a holiday and left me with an inferior rental model.
