A Good Solid Lead...
I decided it was about time I edit this intro and come up with a litte more about myself.I'm an mechanical engineer, specializing in fluid mechanics, thermodynamics, and acoustics. I design nuclear reactors for a living, no joke. You won't find me writing much about my work, though, I have an airtight nondisclosure agreement with my employer which I abide by religiously because I love my job. Rest assured that I will find lots of other things to talk about.
I like to write, and I'm trying to piece together a reasonably plot for a novel. For the time being, I have about ten or twelve disjointed paragraphs at different stages in a storyline that I haven't really developed yet. Isn't the creative process marvelous?
I am somehow antiquated at 24 years of age. My first word processor was WordStar for the Apple ][, many, many years ago (almost 2 decades, I guess), which is also where I learned to type. This means that I like to double space after periods since fonts were not kerned way back then. This was reinforced by my typing teacher in high school and is a habit it would be emotionally damaging to try to undo.
My favorite authors are, in no particular order, Douglas Adams, Peter Benchly, Robert Ludlum, Clive Clussler, and Tom Clancy. I have a definite thing for spy novels in case you can't tell. Unfortunately two of these have sadly passed on (Adams and Ludlum) and the rest, I'm afraid, aren't getting any younger. This is why I'm trying to write my own book, since with all my favorite authors dying I don't know what will be left to read when I reach old age.
