Not such a fan of Bond films, anyway, and heard from far too many people who hated that one to even try. There were really only a couple of Bond films I found particularly interesting, and even those I'm not inclined to watch again.
What I desperately want to get my mitts on is "Sukiyaki Western Django", but who knows when it'll see a US release. I wonder if it'd be worth buying on eBay or from an Asian distributor. Tarantino's hit or miss; he came up with that crappy "Kill Bill" and then turned around and did the brilliant "Death Proof". So while I'm loathe to cough up $40 or more for a film I haven't seen, it looks like I might be able to get a copy on eBay for around $25 shipped. What to do, what to do...

Ah, the PY strikes again.
Incidentally, it was a mild expression of dismay, Christopher, and nothing important, so I won't rewrite the post.
All of the foul abusive, sexist and homophobic bile that certain people get away with and someone's got to follow me around looking for things they might be able to yikes. Pathetic.

Too true. Looks like it's back now - quite agree with you on Tarantino. The endless referencing gets a bit boring after a while. We get it!
There's an outside chance I might find it somewhere, but if you can't wait...

Watched a bit of the "Casino Royale" remake. Unwatchable. And not just because that Craig man is so unattractive. It's worse than the original, which I hated with a burning passion.
The more I hear about "Sukiyaki Western Django", the cooler it sounds. Do you like much Takashi Mike? I like most of them, but the one I've loved most so far has been "The Happiness of the Katakuris".
For this weekend, we've got "Duck, You Sucker" (Sergio Leone) and "Burst City" (1980s Japanese punk sci-fi ).

Burst City is a great punk name for a movie. Cyberpunk even. Hope it lives up to the title.
I regret to say I've not seen one Miike film yet, though I've teetered on investigating Happiness, Ichi, and Audition. The rest are a complete mystery. I'm intrigued by the TV series Multiple Personality Detective though
I am *so* glad to be home early today. I'm so tired I could puke and not bother to open my mouth. This weekend, I've got - well, what you've sent

I'm hoping you'll enjoy the four movies I sent. One is silly sci-fi, one is a sort of comedy-drama, and the other two are arty sort of stuff I think you might appreciate. And of course Space Ghost is a laugh riot.
I liked "Audition" and "Ichi" though I will admit they're a bit violent. (That doesn't bother me) "Gozu", "The Bird People of China" and "Full Metal Yakuza" are all worth watching, too.
"Happiness" is good if you like dark comedy and don't dislike musicals. I think it's pretty cool- bought a copy on DVD recently. It's out of print here so I bought an Asian copy.

Very much enjoying Space Goast KLUGMAN.
My VCR packed up yesterday, no NCIS. *sulk* So I went and got a DVD recorder today. Looks like I'll be broke at the end of the month again, and I've still got Jan's retirement gift to get. But if there's any UK TV you hear about you'd be interested in, give me a holler.

Oooh, I'll pay attention next time someone mentions something we can't get here.
I haven't got a DVD recorder (or TiVO, either) since I really don't watch too much on TV these days. They're useless for backing up one's video collection because they don't work around copy protection. So I need to keep fiddling with the thingy that connects to the computer. That'll give me something to do with my personal holiday Friday.
Hope you had a good weekend? Went to Whole Foods and did a lot of laundry Saturday; yesterday we went to Horrorbles and watched a couple of cheesy movies. The weekends go by too quickly!!

I remembered how funny the Klugman bits were for you. Don't you love that- when something that isn't necessarily inherently funny becomes hilarious? I can't see the man on TV without hearing Zorak say "KLUGMAN" in my head.

Zorak's easily the most fun on that show (Blast him! Blast him!)
There's been some pretty excellent episodes of Who on lately, would you like me to store those?

Hold off on Who for the time being. It's apparently available on PBS now, albeit later at night than I'm generally awake, and also Sho has offered to send me at least one disc and I'd hate to duplicate anyone's efforts.

I'm sure there's something I want to see and either don't know about yet or can't recall.
Plus surprises are always cool.

True 'dat. But finding out is half the fun.
I suppose I could poke around and see what sorts of programs are on and see if anything intrigues me.
I've got the entire original series of Star Trek to watch (hopefully soon, in case any discs are defective) and we haven't even started yet...

June's shaping up to be an interesting month for Netflix; I'm awaiting availability of "Control", "Be Kind Rewind", "In Bruges" and "Persepolis".
I tried peeking at a couple of BBC TV pages to see if there's anything on TV there that isn't here and sounds intriguing, and was quickly overwhelmed. I'll settle for you suggesting something and me checking that out and getting back to you- it's the path of least resistance, which is the way I much prefer.

Okay, how about the extended (i.e. uncensored) Have I Got News For You? This week's presenter is the lovely Bill Bailey.
Looking forward to seeing most of those too. Control especially. There's a new Joy Division film just out aswell.

I'm not familiar with "I've Got News For You", though I have heard it mentioned before, I'm sure. Bill Bailey's always a hit, though. I looked it up on W*k*, and I imagine a lot of the content will go flying over my head, so I think maybe just the Bill Bailey one would do until someone else I'm familiar with shows up.
Key: Complain about this post
