Miow

Been looking into getting a cat for a few months - mainly because hubby is a big cat fan (most complex lifeform I've ever owned was a rabbit). Been popping into the RSPCA rehoming centre for a few weeks. Spotted two little darlings the weekend before glasto, but we only really wanted one cat and the two needed to go together so we decided to leave it thinking the two little showoffs would be snapped up in no time.

Went back last saturday to have another look and Ruby and Panther were still there, went back sunday and bagseyed them and had a little one on one session in a little room. Got visited monday night to check out the house and we were going to pick em up first thing sat, but the centre wont be open next weekend so ended up madly driving to the centre yesterday to pick em up before it closed (got there with 10 minutes to sparesmiley - ok).

Dispite all the warnings that Panther would get hissy and wouldn't settle they both strutted out of they boxes and started exploring the house, last night Ruby ended up asleep by hubby's feet and Panther on his wheelchair. They're still a little twitchy but we've had almost nothing but purrs and rolling over for tummy tickles this morning, oh and Panther has decided he loves the extra space and has taken to gamboling up and down the house like a dogsmiley - laugh.

Expecting to get home from work to a complete pigsty with clothes/paper all over the floor and poo all over the bed...but maybe not.

New Wheels

OK it's been quite an eventful weekend and now that my cold is abating I'd better remember to update my journal rather than blurting out off topic waffle in some poor unfortunate threadsmiley - winkeye

Main news is hubby's shiney new wheels...our house now contains 3 wheelchairs, all Quickies (hubby is a brand whoresmiley - laugh).

Latest is a Quickie Titanium Ti (http://www.epc-wheelchairs.co.uk/wheel/quick_ti.htm this is from the website of the wonderful company that he bought it from...if you are in the UK and looking for a wheelchair I can't recommend them enough) complete with spinergy wheelssmiley - drool(http://www.spinergy.com/openingpage.htm ) and some gorgeous looking easigrip handrims (can't find a website for these) and fold down handles to stop "helpful" people from pushing without askingsmiley - ok.

It weighs next to nothing and glides like a dream (what you expect me not to have a go?smiley - winkeye).

Thanks to the NHS who paid up £1200 for part of the price (although no thanks to the NHS for the lack of help paying with the last 2 chairssmiley - grr and who wont pay up again within 5 yrs) and because that still left £1500 to pay our driveway will remain untarmacedsmiley - sadface...but then I'd rather hubby had a chair he can use and which helps his posture instead of ruining it than a shiney driveway that smells nice in the rain.

Anyhoo - we are putting the old chair in for a service (it's a Quickie Revolution so it folds down...unfortunately that means it also starts to fall apart after too much foldingsmiley - groan) and once the bank balance is looking a bit healthier we're going to get a powertrike fitted to the oldest chair (a Quickie GPV)...although we're waiting until EPC (the wheelchair shop handily located 2 hours drive awaysmiley - laugh) have finished testing their new and improved powertrike (a powertrike is a powered, removable front wheel that fits onto a normal wheelchair and turns it into a cool 3 wheeler).

So I'm a bit wheelchair obsessed atmsmiley - biggrin I'm sure it will wear off eventually.

Happinose

Wow...what a revelation. For years I've suffered with colds...most people get the sniffles for a few days I would get gallons of snot meaning dependance on boxes and boxes of tissues (I've had a cold for 3 days and got through 2 boxes of tissues ond 2 toilet rolls...and this is when I've been in the nice position of being drugged up to the eyeballs with decongestant and paracetamol)...which means one very unhappy nose.

Vaseline - miracle cure as it is is powerless against the red crustiness my nose takes on after 1/2 a day with a cold.

Ultra-balm tissues - feel nicer but don't stop the redness and flakiness that develops post cold.

But smiley - grovelHappinosesmiley - grovel...which appears to be made of paraffin and mentholsmiley - erm seems to have achieved what nothing else has ever done. The redness was less, the dryness was actually reduced...it even helped clear my nose a bit. And on top of this it withstood about an hours worth of blowing and sneezingsmiley - wow.

So I feel I have to shout it from the rooftops - if your nose is a bit sore and red buy some Happinose and suffer no moresmiley - biggrin...it's even got a little smiley - smiley to dot the i on the boxsmiley - biggrin
