btw, am still cringing cos that last email was way too long and rambly and whatever. I am actually capable of more succinct emails and postings, just got into a stream-of-consciousness thing the other day. . Really, I do tend to talk a lot, and in much the same manner as in that email, but I mostly try to keep it under control.

eek,

Sorry about the hiatus. Bought nephew latest Playstation2 soccer game for his birthday and he's been thrashing me at it ever since. smiley - smiley

Not much new, I'm afraid. Counting the days until January 9. My official last day of employment.

Still being thrashed at Ps2 soccer. (Too old and slow, I fear)

Still struggling (on and off) with guide entry.

Could do with inspiration on all fronts. smiley - smiley

And only a chocolate smiley - cake to console myself with.

Times is hard.

Don't mind me, I'm getting increasingly monosyllabic with everyone these days. (You'd have thought they could have found a shorter word than monosyllabic to describe it, wouldn't you? smiley - erm)

Too right.

I've just put my Exodus article (incomplete though it is) into the writing workshop in the hope of some feedback. It's at A1053262 if you're interested.

hmmm . . . I think that writing critiques are not my forté. Sorry for sounding silly. I knew what I meant to say, just probably didn't say it very well.

Yesterday I came across a Pratchitt book called Night Watch, on sale for 10 euros. So I foolishly bought it (foolishly cos I'm still not sure how I'm going to make ends meet this month, due to the lack of one tenant next door and the loss of one student due to a motorcycle accident . . .)

So, I hope it's a good book. Was going to start it last night but then all the power went out in the building (seriously f**king up my computer - this morning it was making very scary noises) so I had no choice last night but to go to bed at 10pm. It was either that or sit here in the dark . . .

So obviously, I was not able to read (in the dark).

Well, off to work now, at the hospital. Ricardo has promised to bring me the next dvd in the I Claudius series. What with the I Claudius series and the Lindsey Davis book I recently read, I was really into this whole Roman thing so rented a dvd last weekend - Caligula. What a stupid film. It was mostly pornography and in spite of its stellar cast (Malcolm McDowell, Helen Mirren, John Guilgud, Peter O'toole) I had to force myself to watch it until the end. At which point I was quite happy to see eveybody die so I could go to bed.

How are you?

I'm not too bad thanks.

Hope your finances work out okay; it's not fun when you can't cover basic expenses.

Night Watch is good; only read it myself a few weeks ago as it's the most recent one in the series. You'll probably miss some of the nuances because most of the characters appear in earlier books, but you'll enjoy it anyway.

Better than Caligula anyway. smiley - ok

Ricardo FORGOT to bring the next istallment of I Claudius! Even though I called him last night at 10.30 (in the dark) to remind him!!! So I told him I totally hated him. He thought I was joking. Yes well fine, the man has a very high pressure job and also a heart condition and he has just got over a bad bout of the flu - BUT ARE THESE ANY EXCUSES TO FORGET MY DVD??? smiley - winkeye

I told him if he forgets again next week he will be totally toast and he found this quite amusing . . . sigh. I need to work on my scary tough-bitch-from-hell routine. Mostly I tend to make people laugh when I get 'angry' with them. It's probably the minnie mouse voice. smiley - smiley

So Night Watch is his most recent? Well, with Lindsay Davis I also started off with her most recent (it was left behind by a previous tenant) and the one I just finished was her next to last recent. Really, not a lot of choice here for books in English. So I hope I'll be able to fill in the gaps and at least get the gist of most of the characters.

Must eat now . . .

Started Night Watch last night. I see what you mean about all the past stuff. characters, etc. Or even about where they are meant to be living! But so far it is quite enjoyable.

Still frantically trying to find the, so far, elusive *third tenant* for next door.

What are your plans for Christmas? You haven't stopped by my Christmas thread so I am assuming your are somewhat grinchy. But even Math dropped in, if only to say 'bah humbug!' smiley - biggrin

Isn't it a bit early to be making plans for Christmas? I usually leave that sort of thing for Christmas eve. smiley - smiley In fact the only long term plan I have at the moment is to put everything off until tomorrow.

Today is December 11th so that makes it . . . just fourteen more sleeps!

To be honest I am not feeling as Christmassy as I would like. But I keep trying.
