Sorry, I was just having my tea.
Still cant get your card. I get the right page, which it downloads except the card is blank, and there's that (1 item remaining..) thingy, and it just stops. I gave it 40 minutes Christmas morning, which *ought* to be long enough, shouldn't it?
I know *exactly* what you mean about parental relationships. My dad was ok except he made *me* look gabby. As for my mum I could write the definitive book on neurosis using her as my only case history. But when you get to a certain stage in life you get to understand the reasons for it, you know?

Well, if you really really really want to you can to to :
http://www.hallmark.com
click on ecards and cards and then in the e-card pick up section put in this number: EG5157721852041
But by the time you do all that it probably won't be worth it as it is just a silly thing anyhow.

I think there is a certain stage in life, which I passed ages ago, where the reasons are no longer even important either. By the time my dad died four years ago he was just this old sad guy . . . I couldn't help but love him somehow. Sort of. That's also how I feel about my mother these days. I don't even care anymore WHY they did what they did. I know I do understand it all on some level (so all that therapy and extensive reading didn't go to waste!) but I'd rather not bother with all that anymore and just get on with things. Including accepting my mother for who she is today (not who she was then). And no, it's not that simple. All the emotional scars and crap memory stuff (and sometimes worse, the blocked memories) are always sort of lurking . . . but I now take that as a given. That some days are better than others with all that stuff. For the most part, things are fine.
I'm freezing! Wish I had proper heating in this place.

Alji - I just posted this to my friend Blues just because I was sitting here feeling chilly and a bit alone:

I like these moments, when really, I wouldn't change a thing. Well, okay, they are fleeting. But still, quite nice.

I've done all that, az. The main link just comes up "Cannot find server".
It's still raining here. God bless the inventor of central heating.
Think I'll join you for that . Brain's still sluggish this morning.

Here it is a beautiful blue sunshiny day . . .
I know I should probably go outside and wander around in it but the Herculean effort of getting dressed (something I didn't quite manage yesterday) has left me thinking that it's just as pleasant to look at it from in here. Besides, in order to go out in public I would have to *do something with my hair* and I'm quite sure I can't be bothered. Anyhow, I have to get dressed *and* go out tomorrow, so there.

Well, pretty low-key New Year's Eve. I got into bed around 9 with my book (just to keep warm - it's much warmer under the duvet) and ended up falling asleep! Woke up again around 11 so got up again to eat my grapes at midnight. And celebrated a bit with some other hootooers (including Alji - hi Alji!). Then of course I couldn't get back to sleep until about 3am. Ho hum.
This morning after breakfast I went out for a nice long bike ride - first one in ages - and then met up with my friend Maria and we walked along the river for awhile. It was such a beautiful sunny day. I think I even got a bit of a suntan on my face.
What did you do? You haven't been online. What do you normally do on New Year's Eve?
Hey, a question. Are you still planning on coming here for a holiday in February? I need to know just to sort out the room availablity next door. I hope you'll still be coming as it would be nice to meet you in person. And I think you would really enjoy it here - quite different from Wales, I'm sure. Anyhow, just let me know.
Are you looking forward to your 'retirement' next week? I'm sure you have mixed emotions about it. I think it could be a good thing - a chance to do something new and different. Would you have wanted to continue with the shop for another fifteen years?
Okay, sorry, I know you don't like long postings or too many questions, so I'm outta here. Talk to you later . . .

Yeah., I had a pretty low key new years' eve, too. Looking after my nephew mostly. Got online on and off, but mostly just catching up with the backlog. Been working today (paperwork), so I've only just got on.
Counting the days till I finish. I'm still hoping to come over reasonably soon, but I'm still not sure when, so don't hold a specific date for me if you've got a booking. Once I can actually get out of the house and sort things I'll take any dates you have left.
