Yes, I saw his conversation with RDO.
I was also quite amused that M turned the Who are you? question around, proving he's still aware of what's going on here.
Ah well, bedtime (and more). Goodnight

bedtime and more??? whatever that means . . .
I think that M is here most of the time, so not surprised he knows what's going on.
buenas noches,

So, what's up today?
I was supposed to go out for lunch with my friend Maria but she has somehow disappeared. Then thought I would go out to buy cat sand as my pet shop is open on Sundays because there is a pet market in the square next to it. But then thought . . . ah, who cares. Because tomorrow I will have to return my dvd's to the video shop next to the pet shop.
Gosh, such an exciting life I lead!

More exciting than mine.
Just pottering about, and checking hootoo in between times to see if there's anything going on. (Not a lot, it seems)
I've also been doing a little work on what I hope will eventually be an Edited Guide entry on the Exodus (makes a change from philosophy). I started it months ago, and then let it languish, but it's a fascinating subject.

ha!
More exciting than mine, eh? I beg to differ. I doubt it.
These days, since I got the adsl connection, I tend to just leave the computer on all day though I am not always here.
The Exodus? Getting into history now? Biblical history? I thought you were an atheist.
I quite enjoyed your last couple of comments to Justin. Very clever and to the point. Also Bouncy said something very good in his last posting.
So anyhow, I am doing much the same as you. Just pottering about and then checking in here now and again to see if anything new of interest has come up.
Still a bit annoyed with Maria as yesterday she said she wanted to invite me out for lunch!

More or less, but as someone remarked on one of the JtP threads, "it's like a wobbly tooth."
Besides the history is fascinating in its own right; a sort of detective story. I've had an interest in the period since forever.

Have you ever read Lindsey Davis? She is an historian who ended up writing a series of 'detective' novels taking place in ancient Rome. I have only read one of the series but I am now dying to read more (unfortunately cannot afford to buy books or anything else at the moment). Very clever, very well written, lots of humour, and also a very good historical background. Oh! I can't wait to get another of this series.
How can you be 'more or less' an atheist? Surely this then makes you an agnostic. Those agnostics - perpetual fence sitters. Can never make up their minds.
I have no problem at all believing that a god concept exists. Though I don't think this is related to any religions I have known. My god concept is Fred, for want of a better term. And it just exists somehow, whether I want it to or not. Alji tells me that Fred reminds him of someone wearing a bowler hat. For me it is just a name to use other than GOD, which is way too fraught with pre-conceptions and misconceptions.
Hmmm. . . time to make some dinner I think. What are you doing this evening? I have one more dvd to watch before tomorrow.

I think you've mentioned Lindsey Davis before; I haven't read anywhere, but I think I'll have a look in the library next time I'm there.
I can bring you you a couple of Pratchetts to try if you like.
I think Alji's referring to the Homepride Flour man.
As to what I'm doing this evening... says it all, I think.

Yes well, my evening activities seem to so far be . . . hootooing a bit and presently chatting to Blues Shark on MSN. And . . . ummm, what *was* that incredibly interesting thing I was meant to do today????

Yes please, bring a couple of Pratchett books with you!
You still haven't answered how you can be a 'more or less' atheist.

Mainly by conceding that there's no absolute proof.

azahar Posted Nov 16, 2003
So what does that mean? If you are an atheist then why do you need proof?
Really, there is no proof about anything when it comes to the concept of god.
I know this will sound extremely flaky, but sometimes when I look at one of my cats and see how perfect they are, or when I wake up in the morning and watch the sky explode into a breathtaking sunrise or just when I feel so at home and comfortable with a friend, these feel like 'god' moments to me. Does that make sense?
Having that feeling, who needs religion?
az
ps
Justin has just been telling me I am not god! ha ha ha ha ha

Noggin the Nog Posted Nov 16, 2003
Yes I saw.
How ironic, really, that Justin would certainly echo but then projects it outside himself.
I don't really *need* proof. As you say, how could there be any proof?

azahar Posted Nov 16, 2003
I think Justin suffered some sort of serious psychological breakdown and somehow stuck 'GOD' into the place where he should be.
He is not well.
Oh well . . .

no, there is no proof, there is no spoon, but don't tell toxxin!

Well, my dinner was okay but the dvd to go with it is only half-finished and will probably remain that way.
Holy-moly, Della is really on the warpath. The problem is that she will never believe I'm not trying to upset her. I'm just trying to upset some of her ideas. Very different.
Did you see my new thread about child smacking? I think it is coming along . . . going to check it out now.

So, have you started learning Spanish yet?
I'm very excited because I got episodes 5-8 of I Claudius (on dvd) from my student Ricardo and can't wait until my classes end this evening so I can curl up on the sofa with cats and watch them.
Now I just have to get through the rest of the day. Time to go out for some serious

Have started to learn English yet?
I, Claudius, eh? They don't make them like that anymore, do they? Compulsive viewing.
Haven't been about much the last few days. Lurking and researching, mostly.

oh, I am suddenly back on-line after almost 24 hours being without a connection - weird - they told me to just change a number on my page. Whatever. I have sent you an email with info about Seville and some other stuff.
