Bushfire update
Many homes destroyed (lost count how many, in the 100s)
4 dead
408 treated at hosptial at least 5 critical.
Observatory destroyed.
Fireballs so strong that one wiped out two houses and blew the roof off the third.
It's really scary.

Hey, moose, you won't read this little lot till you're back with us, but we're all sending our positive thoughts to you.
I really hope it isn't as bad as it looks on TV, but fear it may be.
I've put a link on my journal space to the bbc news page which has emails from people who can somehow still manage to get to a computer.
Just left a message there from all of us here on hootoo, don't know if they'll print it or not, but you never know! (it is the beeb after all; another free plug for hootoo!!)

As of last night:
368 (minimum) houses destroyed
4 dead
Extreme danger again today - especially in the northern suburbs.
This doesn't happen often - these are the worst bushfires Australia has ever seen. Yesterday the smoke from the fires in the Victorian alps was blowing into Melbourne - a good 500km away.
I've a few friends up there who say it's absolutely terrifying - the sun hasn't been seen in days because of the smoke.
Thoughts are with you Moose...the power is generally back on (afaik) so hopefully we'll be seeing you soon!

hi. i'm back. (temporarily) i'm haven't been toasted yet..but it could still happen. i'm really missing seeing the sky...and being able to go sleep at night, not worrying that my house is about to burn down. I'm gunna have to turn the computer off after i post this, so thanx for the thoughts and i'll C U all sometime next week (unless my house does, in actuality, burn down. then, i guess it'll probly be rather later)
