I do believe Raven will be inundated with cuddles and kisses when he gets back.

It was good to read he was awake. Being away on holiday made it a bit tricky for me to get online, but mum helped keep me informed too.

And can I give a thank you to Cal for keeping us all informed. Without you we wouldn't have gotten any information.

I have just been listening to an interview on the radio with a man who was in a bike accident a few years ago - he suffered severe brain damage and was in a coma for a long time.

I immediately thought of Raven and listened more carefully.

He said that, while he ws in the coma it was like he was in some fantasy world from his childhood, revisiting his past ... and all the way through it he could hear his wife's voice calling him back and leading him back to the real world. He said that it was like a journey that he was taking through his life to his life and it was only the sound of that voice that kept him traveling towards recovery - even if it was just the sound of her reading to him.

Someone posted here that hearing is the last sense to go when you're in a coma - this seems to confirm that, and the importance of continuing to talk to "the patient".

But I also believe that communicating positive thoughts plays an important role, and that, knowing that there are people that care must aid recovery.

Thoughts and feelings have wings and can fly vast distances.

Raven must have been like Heathrow with prayers and positive vibes winging their way to him from all over the world

I agree with the importance of talking to someone who is in a coma.. when I was at Uni one of my friends was in a car wreck and was in a coma for quite a while. Believe it or not that's how I learned about HHGTTG.. I was reading another, really dull, book to him and was so bored I picked up another on the nightstand, it was The Guide.

I'm really glad that Black Raven is getting better but I would hate to see this thread turn into a hate campain against bikes, they are I believe the best way to travel and I 'm not trying to talk for the man but I suspect he feels that way himself.

The guy that I was talking about had his accident on a bicycle - not a motor bike.

(Just clearing that up )

I'm a biker my self Arnold and their are a few others in this thread who either are, have been or have families who have bikers so there is no way this thread could possibly turn in to a bike hating one


We still should be sending positive thoughts to Raven as although he's awake, he still has a lot of recovery to go through, so keep it up guys

I don't know the extent of his other injuries, but being awake from the coma is a very good start!

I know he will have other serious issues (nothing was said, but I'm getting the feeling that there's other "damage" for him to recover from) but he clearly has a sturdy cheering section here!
