Thank you MJ Maybe the difference is, that I'm 'new' to PR; maybe I'd be on the same high horse as some people (you know who I mean, some of those with the 50+ edited entries badges, who think they can decide what's fit to be in the EG, and what is not) after a while ? Not something I'd want to be, no thank you.

Bels - I know exactly what you mean I have an awful lot of Entries in the EG, (40+ from memory) and not a single golden badge
But I don't mind because a lot of my Entries are Collaborative. I enjoy the community spirit of h2g2 and it annoys me when some people ruin it for others by being a little too headstrong in their manner.
But I will continue using h2g2 because I enjoy it. When I stop enjoying it, I won't use it. Shame is that recently my enjoyment levels are low
But then I go and meet new people, like yourself and Sereph and the community spirit grabs hold of me once again!
Keep smiling, we all have our ups and downs

You are right MJ, it was your enthusiasm and friendliness that made me change my mind and give PR a go, and i call myself lucky that you were the first to post to my PR thread . And I do enjoy h2g2, and intend to do so in the future, that's why I avoid places with an unfriendly atmosphere.

That's why I don't go to clubs. Give me a nice warm pub, a pool table, a group of close friends and a pint of and I'm well away
I'm glad you perservered with PR for your Entry, there were a few times that I felt some things were a little heavy handed, but...hey-ho that's the nature of the beast I'm afraid. My first foray into PR put me right off for nigh on 2 years! So you've done well!
Now PR is water off a ducks back. I read the bits concerning how to make the entry better punctuation and grammar wise and ignore the rest. After all, the Entries you put into PR are YOURS, not someone else's ideas of what they should be
I've ranted a little haven't I? Oh well...

Rant away it can make entertaining reading I've found PR to be pretty good on the whole, even enjoyable at times

Sorry for kidnapping your Journal Sereph...
I will return it when I've used it to wash me dishes and mow me lawn. Don't expect it back any time soon...

Heavy handed ? I didn't notice, I was too busy trying to and make all the corrections, clarifications etc.
In fact, I've found mine to be very good, friendly, helpful, and very positive feedback, which amazed me
But maybe that's just the 'first entry bonus' ?

oh, I was unfortunate first time round.
"Your Entry is Not Suitable for PR, remove it."
Gee, thanks. Even after I did actually bother to read the Writing Guidelines I was still told it wan't suitable. So I just got it published in the Post, so yar-boo-sucks to the bores
Glad you found PR helpful Bels, that's how it should work

Believe me, I always feared somebody would turn up and tell me exactly what they told you in your first entry. Although, having read what Jimster said here, I shouldn't have worried about that, should I, because they aren't to decide what's fit and what's not fit anyway. The only problem is, that few people have the courage to tell them so. Just go and look at some of seriph's replies: but Gnomon said...' is he almighty ? Is what he sais more valid than what I say, or you ? Apparently, lots of people think so, so what is the point in commenting in a PR he is commenting to ? I hope you see my point.

yes of course I see what you mean
The older Researchers, and thus more experienced, views should always be taken into consideration, but at the end of the day, they are not the be all and end all of h2g2. It is up to other Scouts, Sub-Editors and Researchers to choose what might be good for the Guide (oh, and the Italics a bit I s'pose ).
No-one's opinions are any more valid than any one else's. Unfortunately many people feel the need to kowtow to the higher A Numbers. I'm not one of them. If I feel someone who is supposedly experienced is full of the proverbial, I say so. For this reason I've not been the favourite person about the place
But like I said, enjoy h2g2 and what it has to offer to YOU and you're well away

Excuse me butting in, but could you please find another endearment for B'Elana.
It sent a jolt through me when I first read it in this thread.

Thank you.
Now back to the topic in question.
I haven't ventured near PR for a while - mainly due to lack of time, but I have also found comments discouraging and have abandoned one or two entries there. Rather defeatist of me really, they probably had a point.

Hello TC, I know what you mean, that was one of the reasons that i always said I'd never even write an entry, too many negative PRs that I've seen.
MJ,there are quite a few variations of my name, like B'EL, or Bel,8 or even Bella sometimes) all of which are fine.

Serephina - it says at the top!
Which reminds me, I haven't even read the entry that's being discussed here, nor the PR thread.
