Pulling Other Researchers: Part II

I have no idea how it works. I just test it. For instance today I will wiegh some into a flask, dilute it with methanol and check the colour. And then Ill weigh some into a beaker, dilute it with solvent and put it onto the auto-titrator. Wait a couple of hours and then record the results.
Fun, of course...

Ah. Not quite as enlightening as I'd have hoped. Still, I know one more thing about you... you're not colour-blind.

BobTheFarmer Posted Jan 14, 2003
Well, actually the colour meter is just shades of murkiness. So actually I could be. Im not though...

Hmmm, not the topic drift Master B would have predicted I'll warrant.
Er... no not cure, sorry wrong word there. Treat is a better word
Inositol Monophosphatase is a protein that is thought to be the therapeutic target of Lithium which is the most effective treatment kown for MD - unfortunately Lithium is also rather deadly in doses not much higher than the therapeutic levels and has bad side effects in the long term so it would be nice to have something that has the same effect but is less toxic.
Don't hold your breath its a long road from my end of making chemicals that work in a test tube to ones that work in pill form. I probably won't be working on it for much longer anyway as my old boss whose project it was has long since left Brum Uni.
As to how it works well it is thought to suppress a cell signalling cycle (cells have internal and external signalling mechanisms in order to respond appopriately to their current environment) that is overactive in those with bipolar disorder.
Right, back to pulling...

*rolls up looking rather confused*
Why are we talking about organic chemistry? Anyone know anything about metallurgy round here?

Nope.
Although I did have an Inorganic exam yesterday- Transition metals.
But on a slightly different scale to your knowledge of metals...
But yeah, its VIP's fault...

Vip Posted Jan 14, 2003
My fault? I just happened to make a comment...

Mu Beta Posted Jan 14, 2003
You actually reminded me of a particularly sad dream I had last night, where I demonstrated my knowledge of thermodynamics in metal-metal couplings.
It might the first time anyone's ever shouted out "Quick! Give me an Ellingham Diagram" in their sleep.

Just a comment VIP?
'Design and Synthesis of Novel Inhibitors of Inositol Monophosphatase? Why do you want to inhibit monophosphates? Strange.'
It was a bit out of the blue!!!
See, I get annoyed that I never remember my dreams. After reading about what B dreamed about last night im quite glad...

Hey, I've lost interest, I know who it is now...

Mu Beta Posted Jan 14, 2003
I'm still not telling - only when she tells me that I can.

Can I make it clear that any oblique mention of 'she' does not refer to VIP, as VIP seems to think.
Told you VIP was jealous...
