OK, back from a fabulous few days in Spain.
( And altough I did come back to find there'd been a house full of teenagers party-ing in my absence, no lasting damage and I'm not going into that here.)
Left on Wednesday - touch and go as to whether we'd actually make it, given Dai's continuing illness. But decided to get out of cold and rainy Norn Irn, and take it easy somewhere warm.
Flight to Malaga was fine - got to our wonderful hotel and just loved it. Really nicely furnished - huge bed, gorgeous blue glass sink in the tiled bathroom, lovely little shamppo and stuff. And a barman who poured freehand gallon-sized measures of ginebras y tonica. There was a bit of suffering involved afterwards
Thursday dawned bright and sunny, and we decided to take the Renfe along the coast and have lunch in Fuengirola. Ah bliss! A seaside restaurant, gazpacho, beer and grilled red snapper. Even managed to be fooled by the sea breeze, and get my compulsory badge of the Northern tourist i.e a sunburned neck and nose.
Managed to buy train tickets to Seville in my garbled Spanish (which kept turning into Italian..), and arrived in time for drinks with the gang. Had lovely dinner together, then found a shrine to 2legs for a few nightcaps (more industiral sized GnTs, and one of MoG's cigars that she bought cos the box was pretty)
Friday morning we started our collection of all permutations and combinations of tea and coffee with hot milk, cold milk, ice in the coffee, on the side....sometimes we even managed to get what we wanted! Quick visit to the cathedral, and then a walk down to the river. Met up with the gang for more lovely lunch (although Dai had to cry off as he took a sicky turn ), and then we brave sould tried the wheel, and then the Plaza de Espana. I was amazed at the sheer size of this place, and the detail on the tile scenes. I'd love to spend longer there.
About 6.30, D had recovered enough to fancy a steak, so we had fun trying to find ANY restaurant that was open at that time of day . Followed by a quick drink in the Irish bar (well, you have to!) and a discussion on what the essential ingredients of an Oirish bar abroad were.
Saturday morning we met for communal breakfast, and then we took a longer tour of the cathedral and a climb up the Giralda Tower. I was amazed that it was all ramps, not steps (for getting horses up, see?), and what a fantastic view from the top!
After a great Italian lunch, where Dai found great delight in the phrase book (hence "next to the apples" - a handy Spanish phrase I'm sure you'll agree) we were even persuaded to give an al fresco display of salsa dancing , before trying some of Sevile's finest ice-cream .
Time for siesta. And then, having failed to get tix for the flamenco, , more drinks. Hmmm....our favourite bar was closed for a private function, the one that did good food tried to convince us that Beefeater gin would do instead of vodka, so we were left with the one with the not so nice "ambientation". And then we headed of in a not very successful search of food, enjoying the smells and souunds of the busy tapas bars. Come midnight, the 2 of us were exhausted, and made our excuses to the party and left (Confession time - we had a Chinese on the way home. Criminal I know, but needs must!)
Sunday morning, breakfast, buying tacky Tshirts, packing, saying goodbye ...train back to Malaga for a look at the Picasso museum. Worth a visit even if only for the building - a converted Moorish palace. And it was nice to break up our day of travelling.
And so to the airport, and a delayed flight, and landing at midnight, and a drive home in the rain....
We'll be back!

Sounds like an appropriately debauched venture. Well done!
Whenever I hear 'red snapper' I think of the band, not the fish, and as a result am listening to 'Prince Blimey' right now.

D'you know? It was almost "The feisty females of hootoo" meet
No offence Z, Noggin, Dai and Mr T....but next to the likes of Ben, MoG, Azaher, Teuchter and yours truly - that is some serious Girl Power you've got there!
I loved Z's comment over breakfast, when MoG and Ben when are about to attack the local park with their "questions for God", about how amazing 2 (or more...) women could be.

I didn't realise it was a meet...
Not that I could have gone. I even chickened out on the minimeet in Copenhagen on sunday, visiting the Carlsberg brewery (I think they did, the records aren't very coherent)
How's Dai doing? Any idea what is wrong? and a loobrush for him.

Love it. Everyone comes here to visit, I get to meet lots of fabulous people and do three of my most favourite things - meet new people, show them MY Sevilla and go out for lots of and tapas - and then I get told how great I am for doing this!
Definitely a win-win situation.
