May I just point out that in your original Welcome post, you advised where on the page to find 'Preferences' and 'Help' these are in different places on different skins, so if you do mention them, it might be an idea not to say where they are located unless you know what skin the newbie is in.
Where a newbie is still a Researcher Number I usually put "you can click 'Preferences' or use this link <./>userdetails</.>" < ./>userdetails</. > with no spaces.
Oh and you could link the ACE in the first paragraph < ./>ACE</. > with no spaces <./>ACE</.>
