You're so vain .....
Fizzymouse- no place like home Started conversation Oct 27, 2011
..... you probably think this post is about you.
Is it my imagination or has everyone lost the plot?
I can hardly keep up with the reading from people who think that they're being picked on, offended, misrepresented, over-worked, suffering of their art or whatever.
I always thought the point of this site was the guide, the community, the fun. The main purpose being writing, reading (those two are inter-changeable)and socialising.
It's become like Frankenstein's monster - being re-launched and run by committee.
Everybody and his aunt wants a say in moderating, guiding, aceing, offending, ruling and over-ruling. Life doesn't tend to work that way. I wouldn't blame NPL if they just took a step back and put 'the management' in place. Nameless, faceless and couldn't care lessless. In fact I might just applaud them.
If h2g2 is going to come of age maybe it's time to act it.

It's all a tad introspective at the minute.

I dunno, big changes have happened, future is somewhat uncertain and some people react to that by externalising I guess. I think also some folks feel this is a chance to air their (past and current) grievances and put in their due to a feeling of h2g2 being 'ours' now. Some folks just playing devil's avacado and others testing the limits.
Doesn't surprise who has said what really, it is unfortunate that it has been somewhat bad tempered and foot-stampy in places and isn't really needed, but that's just how some folks operate. Hopefully it'll just grumble along and then disappear once some order and authority is put in place.

Give it time. The new CEs and moderators need to learn how to take control of a situation. It's worth a few flounces.
Or, you could supply some new words to "You're So Vain" and submit them to the G&S thread (I'm not fussy)

"You're so vain you probably think this mod is about you"?

I've not been, and probably won't be, here enough to justify wading in, which is probably for the best. It hasn't made for particularly entertaining lurking but is understandable under the circumstances.

You're right, Ictoan. It's all very 'in your face' at the minute with people apparently actively trying to get banned or offend or whatever. I just hope they don't get what they wish for or for that matter make the whole site explode in a mess of pansies and whale meat.
Mr North, if I knew where the G&S thread was I might just post to it.
Thanks for the I'll have that now.
It's only a matter of time, Roymondo, only a matter of time.
You're a pain, I think you need a slap or a clout, yo!
You're a pain, a quick dig in the bake would improve you
Won't it, won't it?

I think you should know that I've had 'You're So Vain' rattling around my head for several minutes now and the aural pain I am about to inflict on my neighbours with my voice and an acoustic guitar is entirely your fault.

I'm afraid to say that all the negativity I've been seeing in my (admittedly too few and too brief) visits to the site.
You're so vain .....

Give it some welly, Roymondo.
I just don't understand why people cannot let things settle down and bed in.
I don't believe the community need to know anything about moderation decisions, end of. It's none of our business. When the rules have been published all we need to know is that they've been broken or not.
Pity about the G&S thread, I wanted to do 3 little maids from hootoo. Somebody beat me to it.

Oh, I did give it plenty of welly, but I've got a bit of a thing for wellies:

You're pretty good too but I now picture you with that bloke of The Fast Show - the farm worker clad in his wellies. You're sort of like a sheep worrier only a welly worrier.
Please make the images in my head stop!

To be honest, it's not an image I'm too keen on either.
You may well have rid me off the welly fetish!
