The Meet & A Drunken Email.

Well, actually, it should be the other way around.
aka just sent me a drunken email (NEVER USE THE INTERNET WHILST DRUNK!) which reminded me that he is, indeed, 18 in a few days. I've not got his present yet (everyone deserves to have presents on their 18th - I didn't), and I'll probably post it when I get back to the UK, but he reminded me of a time when he said he would only go to a h2g2 meet when he was old enough to drink.
Oh aaaaaaaaaaaka. Are you going to the meet?
Plus, am I right in seeing that it is in July? On the 10th? If so, that is 7 days before my birthday...

It's the 10th of July. And God damn it, if you're within arm yanking distance (which I consider to be a radius of about 300 miles), I'm going to come get you.

a) where is the meet?
and
b) crikey the drunken email thing.... *shudder* I wish there is some way I could prevent myself from using my PC and phone when battered...

That would London, dear. See A2427013 for specs
Forget drunk posting. I haven't drank since James left, 'twould be a sight to behold if I did. I have enough trouble as it is not sending him depressive and offensive sure-to-drive-him-away drivel as it is

Two reasons...
1. My mum controls my life and she said hell would freeze over before she let me meet anybody I met online
2. I haven't enough money

Hmm. I'll /consider/ it, also - I mean, I'd like to get to it/one/any meet, but, y'know. Meh.
As my parents still don't believe the Internet is anything but a cesspool of all kinds of criminals, (and don't believe me when I say that even using your credit card online isn't always putting it in full view for people to see, and that I know when it's safe to use it, and on which sites - yet they still come begging to my guru-like knowledge of computery things, and all stuff ... computery when in need of any sort of help/in doubt of something - so why they don't trust me on how the Internet works, I don't know.) getting it through to them that the meet will be safe will be quite hard - no matter what age I am.
Perhaps, Luthiena, it might help though if you told your Mum this is a BBC site - if that doesn't put the trust in *everybody*, then nothing will. Also, add to this the fact that you'll be with not just 'people you met online', but BBC Employees - the Italics; See? It's all coming together now... Go persuade.

"but BBC Employees"
Well I'd say that tears it if she knows about the ones caught taking drugs and many other such things!

It has the BBC in the title - surely that adds credibility though (except for people who are naive BBC-ophobes [Sorry I couldn't think of an *actual* word] and believe that the BBC is to blame for the entire Iraq situation following the outcome of the Hutton Report, of course ).

Oh, for some reason I thought you were at University, Luthiena. Eck..if that were the case, you're under no obligation to tell your parents jack.

Nyss, I think most people would get a similar impression. She does seem wise way beyond her years.
