Temptation...

Well, it's that time of year again. You know - when you have to go out and buy easter baskets for other people, and try not to eat any of the candy because you're on a diet - but the haunts your dreams and the malted milk eggs cry out your name in the dark (in a most evil way!)
We have a popcorn company here in Kansas City by the name of Topsy's. They make popcorn 's every year. They're about 12 inches high and 4 inches thick with candy eyes and little candy carrots around the bottom, and all tied up in crinkle wrap with a big bow . And you can get them in either the regular candied popcorn flavor or in cinammon.
I always get one for my daughter and one each for my niece and nephew. It's a tradition! And my daughter never eats all of hers - so I end up eating it. So of course I get her the cinnamon flavor cause that's my favorite! .
Well... this year she told me she didn't like the popcorn s! So now, if I want to eat one - I have to buy one for me - which everyone knows I can't because I'm dieting and, and,
Just think of those poor popcorn s sitting there all lined up at Topsy's, waiting to come to my house (as they do every year) and having to live with the disappointment of never getting picked up...
Hey - wait a minute... popcorn isn't fattening as long as you don't put oil or butter on it is it?
Hold on little s!!! I'm coming!

I've lost 25 pounds! Since January 3rd!
In "weight" not in British money!
Yep - I've decided that this is the year to get this weight off.
So wish me luck - as I'm a great "starter" and not a good "finisher"

And on and on it goes...
My mom (who lives with me) fell while walking across the front lawn on Friday evening. Her arm swelled so we went to the emergency room (2 blocks from our house). Found out she broke one of her left ribs and her right wrist. They put a splint on the arm - but they can't do anything about the rib - it just heals on it's own.
Then to add insult to injury - she broke out in hives from either the pain killer (hydrocodone) or the anti-inflammatory (Celebrex) and had to stop taking both on Saturday evening. Which means that yesterday (Sunday) she was in a lot of pain and not very mobile.
She can sleep in her bed (she can't get up with the bad rib) so she's been sleeping in the reclining chair, but she can't push it back up to get out of in on her own, so I set my alarm for every two hours last night to see if she had to get up to go to the bathroom or anything.
And today I'm draggin... But she's feeling better today, can get out of the chair on her own and I take her to get the cast put on the arm tomorrow.

Groovy-Kewl!

I just bought the coolest Christmas present for my daughter! It's a very small digital video camera (about the size of two cassette tapes stacked one on top of the other), with voice & mpg recording capabilities. 4 megapixel photos! Yes!!! And it comes with a tripod and earphones, and an extra memory card. She can store 1000 photos, or 20 minutes of video or 800 songs on it!
I'm so excited - cause she's gonna love it! I'm sneaky too - because she wanted a digital camera for Christmas and I laughed out loud and said "yeah right - like anyone can afford that". So she really doesn't think she's going to get one.
And the best thing is that it wasn't very expensive. I bought if off of one of the home shopping channels - so I got to see them use it and disply the photos and video that they took with it.
I can't wait until Christmas day!
