Havn't been online much - home ill And the medication the doctor has me on is just as bad as the sinus infection itself . However, I did manage to install my old "backup" hard drive onto the new computer, and it works! YAY!!! I now have access to my files again! WOOHOO!!! So yesterday wasn't a complete waste of time. Caitlin and I were going to go watch the fireworks last night. However it had rained all day (ended before dark though) but the humidity was horrible and the smoke from the fireworks just hung in the air. I got her favorite computer game reloaded, so she just opted to stay home and play on the computer, which suited me fine cause I don't think my current head condition could have taken the humidity and the smoke! Was thinking of going in to work today, but no-one is in, and this medication is kicking my butt! Think I'll just stay close to home today. I can always go in over the weekend...

Sorry to hear about the sinus, etc. problem...I get it from time to time. And, as you say, the "cure" can be worse than the complaint!

Right now we are getting sorted out to get an early start tomorrow, heading for South Devon. At least, Shirley is getting things sorted !!
With my usual impeccable sense of timing, I`ve Knackered my back again. Did nothing really, must have just turned awkwardly, and Bingo..here we go again! This happens every so often, I long ago seriously damaged the muscles in my back, and it`s not been completely right since. This time it`s hopefully not too bad, and shouldn`t take more than a couple of days to ease off, but I`m not overly excited about the 5 hour drive in the morning !!
It`s only about 250 miles or so, no big deal, but it`s just about impossible to sit comfortably at the moment, let alone drive

Enough of my moanin` and groanin`, but I`m a little p****d off with the bloody timing and double

Other than that...everything is just fine

Maybe you could lie down in the backseat while Shirley drove for a bit? That might be easier than sitting up in the front seat the entire trip.

And you could always ride on top of the car (better breeze that way!)

Oh please! I'd just like to get her through middle school without having to stunt her growth! I made her take math in summer school. She tests out at genius level in math, then she goes and gets "C" (below average) marks in math... And I know it's just laziness as I sit with her and make sure her homework is done everynight! She just can't get the hang of actually taking the homework out of her backpack and handing in to the teacher... So, as I was saying, I imade her take it over again in summer school (which is usually only for the kids who have flunked out of it during the regular year). She of course got straight A's. What'd I tell you? Laziness! I need to find a different way to motivate her, as threatening to remove the skin from her body and then have her roll around in salt is not helping...

I know the problem..had similar episodes with mine.
On one hand you don`t want to push too hard for fear of alienating `em, but if you don`t, you feel that they will just slide backwards.

All I can say is, and this is with the benefit of hindsight, that everything seems to come out ok in the end, given that a reasonable discipline is imposed. Which is what you seem to be doing.

A pain in the @$$ though, all the same

Of course I will you silly! However, If you get too feeble to type on the computer, and I haven't earned enough money for the outrageous planefare overseas yet - then we just might have to resort to psychic communications!

And thanks for the advice on my daughter! That's exactly what I feel like most of the time - like I'm teetering on the brink of being the wicked witch of moms, or that I'm way too lenient... I guess no parent ever feels like they're doing the right thing at the right time...

Just keep doin` what you`re doin` luv, you`ve got it about right.

And you CARE..that`s the main thing, at the end of the day.

If I ever get the stage where I can`t hit a few keys (albeit slowly), as the samurai used to fall on their sword, I`ll use a nine iron
