Just had a brilliant day, celebrating my birthday!
Umpteen mentions on various radio stations, starting on Saturday night and still ongoing!
Loads of cards and pressies and texts and emails...
Excellent day at work, never had to raise my voice once!
then home to celebrate further with my pal, Bev, and a meal out with Mr Susie and Bev! Seriously good food!
what a bloody good day!!

Certified!
Posted Oct 20, 2003
Just heard that I passed the last assignment, and now have the certificate in special educational needs/support for learning!
This is tempered slightly by the arrival of the distance education pack for the next part, moving on to the diploma modules. This year's extravaganza is rather scarily entitled The Major Project.
Maybe I have been making very heavy weather of this whole thing but at the time of writing, I have considered every assignment till now to be A Major Project!!
When I'm , round about March/April time, will someone remind me that I was chuffed to be certified today?

Endings and beginnings
Posted Sep 14, 2003
Today Mr Susie and I delivered number two son to halls of residence at the University of Stirling to embark on his university career.
His academic path has been chequered, to say the least, so it feels like a particular triumph that he has reached this point.
The world and his wife expected me to be today, but it has been more of a cause for celebration, really. Son #2 struggled to conform for most of his time at school and didn't actually settle down until the latter stages. So, although it will be different not having him living at home, there is a flavour of rightness and anticipation, insofar as a more independent learning environment might be far more appropriate for him. Time will tell!
Number one son moved into his new flat with his lady last week, so, for the first time in twenty years, Mr Susie and I have only ourselves to cater for and consider. And it is lovely!
So, far from being distraught emptynesters , we came home, cracked a bottle of and revelled in the novelty of having the house to ourselves!
Not worth , really, he'll be home again on Friday!

Exam results
Posted Aug 12, 2003
It is late and I am tired, but I'm sitting, yet again, waiting for exam results to be delivered in the morning.
I don't know how anyone with several children can stand it. I have only two, but such is the timing of their births that I have spent every summer since and including 1998 awaiting exam results.
However, if all goes well, this will be an end to it.
Once they are at university, there are no Parents' Nights, no letters home, no expectation that you, as maternal parental unit, will greet every grade with the requisite praise and recognition...
.. end of an era, really...
