Today Mr Susie and I delivered number two son to halls of residence at the University of Stirling to embark on his university career. 
His academic path has been chequered, to say the least, so it feels like a particular triumph that he has reached this point. 
The world and his wife expected me to be 
today, but it has been more of a cause for celebration, really. Son #2 struggled to conform for most of his time at school and didn't actually settle down until the latter stages. So, although it will be different not having him living at home, there is a flavour of rightness and anticipation, insofar as a more independent learning environment might be far more appropriate for him. Time will tell!
Number one son moved into his new flat with his lady 
last week, so, for the first time in twenty years, Mr Susie and I have only ourselves to cater for and consider. And it is lovely! 
So, far from being distraught emptynesters , we came home, cracked a bottle of 
and revelled in the novelty of having the house to ourselves! 
Not worth , really, he'll be home again on Friday!

aye, and the weekend passed by in a blur of washing, ironing and baking pies 
they were both home and #2 was happy to fill me in with all the goings on of his first week! 
he's away back now for the first full week of classes
