........
So, I click on your page while editing the Krewe of H2G2 Happy Camper Page and there is this warning...
Beware?
Just Bob aka Robert Thompson, plugging my film blog cinemainferno-blog.blogspot.co.uk Posted Mar 11, 2003
Cool, isn't it? It uses a tool which I gather is new to GuideML. I just thought it was perfect for raising people's paranoia.
Beware?
Evangeline Posted Mar 12, 2003
The tag is new as of the changes on March 6 (I know it's backwards, but, I'll get confused if I start saying 6 March). All the other viewer tags I had run across were something like "Welcome" or "Hello....". The Beware....made me .
Have you seen your float? If not it's over here... A989788 . Let me know if you want the smileys changed.

At the time you posted, I was incommunicado, back in Essex. Now I'm in Manchester again and have free access to computers. I'm fine I suppose, but not looking forward to getting back to lectures, etc.
How about you?

I'm doing okay. Honestly, I haven't posted much lately. RL hasn't been very pleasant lately(my journal has most of the details).
On the more pleasant side I finally got to see the Harry Potter and the Chamber of Secrets movie(bought the DVD). Can't wait for the Two Towers DVD.

My disposable income has just taken a leap upward, so I may be buying that soon.

Evangeline Posted Apr 27, 2003
Have you gotten a new or better job? Have you met other researchers from Manchester?
Beware?
Just Bob aka Robert Thompson, plugging my film blog cinemainferno-blog.blogspot.co.uk Posted Apr 27, 2003
No, it's just the latest installment of my Student Loan has come through. And yes, I have met other Manchester h2g2ers a couple of times.
Beware?
Evangeline Posted Apr 27, 2003
I hope the terms of your student loan are easier to manage than the ones that are issued here.
The only other Louisiana researchers I've met are the ones I dragged here in the first place.

Just Bob aka Robert Thompson, plugging my film blog cinemainferno-blog.blogspot.co.uk Posted Apr 28, 2003
Unfortunately, the terms of Student Loans are pretty arbitrary. Fortunately, they're also largely quite reasonable. The problem came when I had to make a payment for halls of residence over a month and a half before the Loan payment came through, squeezing my finances over that period. Strangely, this also means that I have lots of money (as of next Thursday), with only a short remaining period of dependency. That's life...
The UK is h2g2 heartland, and Manchester is one of the big 4 or 5 cities in England. That makes it a logical place to hold Meets. I've been to two of them so far, plus a gig where Lee (i.e. threesecondmemory) was the drummer in one of the bands.
Beware?
Evangeline Posted Apr 29, 2003
I can sympathize greatly with squeezed finances.
More than one researcher has asked me to go to England to meet them. Actually, a couple of them are demanding... Saving money for such a trip is a bit of a challenge, might be possible by Spring of 2004. I will probably have enough money in a few months. But, there is no way I could possibly handle Winter there. Louisiana is sub tropical(I don't even own wool socks).
Looking at a map and where everyone is and all the places we'd like to see along the way, it seems that Liverpool to Scotland ought to just about cover everybody and every place. Meanwhile, anyone who wants to fly, drive or swim into New Orleans, Baton Rouge, Lafayette etc. is more than welcome to call on us for a tour.

I don't own any wool socks either, but I suppose you're right. England is actually on the same latitude as Moscow and Alaska, and although we don't get snow more than a couple of inches deep even on the coldest days, it would still be a bit of a shock to people used to blue skies and sunshine. Here in Manchester, it has rained forthe past four days in a row.
Beware?
Evangeline Posted May 16, 2003
I've seen snow a grand total of five times(ever). Once it even dipped to zero(farenheit). Other than that, our winters are mild by most standards. It hasn't rained as much so far this year as it usually does, which I hope is not a precursor to a tropical storm later in the year.
For the most part rain doesn't bother me, not even the dark, dreary, gray sort of days. Downpours are okay as long as I don't have to be out in it. Storms are even kind of interesting to watch. But, there is one kind of drippy, chilly, rain that just sort of makes the world seem all drab and unfriendly...that I could really do without.

Rain is definitely okay if you don't have to go out in it. I have no problem whatsoever with that kind of rain.
It's when it makes me personally cold and wet and uncomfortable that I begrudge farmers their well-watered livelihood.
Beware?
Just Bob aka Robert Thompson, plugging my film blog cinemainferno-blog.blogspot.co.uk Posted May 20, 2003
The rain stopped for a while, but it's back on again now. Summer, it seems, has been postponed.
I'm actually already finished with lectures. My first exam is *shudder* tomorrow. On the up-side, that means that I'm going home for the holidays in less than 3 weeks.
Beware?
Evangeline Posted May 21, 2003
Could I persuade you to send some of that rain over here? It has been very hot and dry for weeks. The ground has started cracking yet, but my neighbors are watering the grass.
Good luck with all of your exams. Will you be disappearing from H2G2 when you go home?
