Found some of your friends
Chan-Mick le Frog Started conversation Jan 5, 2003
Hi,
I hope you have found the friends mentioned in your intro. However, if you haven't, here's what I found:
Paper Lady/Amy Pawloski: A591752
Lurcher: U185726
Couldn't find a "Dancer" but found Kristina, the Flamenco Dancer. So, just in case: A431047
If they're the right persons, all you need to do now is click on the orange numbers to get to their personal spaces! Isn't life wonderful?
One last thing. I happen to live with Terri ("Such a plaisir...") and she asked me to let you know she'll soon get in touch with you.
So will I.
A bientôt.

I found three Dancers. Two seem to have 'left the building' - the third is at U126945.

Dear Archangel Dr. Justin
Thank you so much for your trouble. the problem is that I do not yet seem to have found the method to "attach" my friends to my page!. Someone has given me very precise details of what to do but I have not yet had the time to practise it.!1 The Dancer I knew lived in Israel and I have not heard from him for ages.Your lead is the corrxt one!!
Boone nuit.

In teh top right section of a user page, you should see a link marked 'Add to friends'. Clicking this will add that person to teh friends list at the bottom of your home page.

Oh dear, Dr. Justin.
What is a user page?
I have just been to both my home space and the top of this thread and cannot find Add to friends list anywhere,
Sorry to be so dim-witted.

Sorry for the confusion! I've been here so long that I forget the new users might not be familiar with all the terms I use. Glad we got it sorted though

Clicking on the name of someone in a conversation thread also takes you to their personal space without needing to know any U numbers.

Thank you also!. You see there appears to be no way that I can make my numbers equal to 42! I think tat is the reasson why I am so slow witted in the computer world!

There doesn't seem to be any obvious way of making 42 from your user number. However your determination should help you have fun on hootoo as it is called.

I have worked out a 42ism for you. Would you like a hint or the ANSWER, I mean the question?

The answer please, the answer!. I am no good at hints. and I have been thinking about it for over a year!!. You are quite extraordinary being able to do that. |I had tried but apparently had "cheated" in some way!!.
It is so cold I am going to bed so will have to wait until the morning to see how I cvan become 42 - again!!
Many , many thanks.

The solution I found after struggling for almost an hour is
(1/8+6)x8+2-9=42 without dividing 1 by 8 I could get to 41 or 43.
Hope this adds to your enjoyment of h2g2

Dear puzzler
My goodness you are fantastic. I am very impressed and thank you so much for the effort you made for me.
I hope you have had a good weekend. It has been jolly cold but this afternoon a friend took me out and it was great to be outdoors.
Where do you live I wonder. I think I shall toddle over to your home page and find out about you!!.
Again many thanks,
Sincerely,
