Then you have to undecorate the tree, take down the lights, face family and wear the ugly clothes they got for you, eat cookies and gain weight.... ::sigh::
We used to make cookie trays for Christmas. We made our own cookies with my grandmother, and decorated them too. It was a full day project(even longer because my grandmother made other baked goods, too). A nice tradition, but it's something I'm not going to do again until I have my own kids who are at least five and can help make a big huge mess!!!
We have a box of peanut butter and fudge brownie mix in the cupboard... herrrrmmmm.....

Actually - I didn't take down the lights... last year I mowed over them twice with the lawnmower, then let the housepainters paint over them...
I guess that means I'll just have to string up more this year

Yup!
Now to wait for a particulary cold, blustery, icy day so that I can perch precariously on a ladder and nail up the outside lights...
Now remind me again why I'm doing this?

Last year we put fairly lights around our living room door. We didn't take them down til June, as me da thought they were pretty and cheerful. I did too.
The best christmas tree we ever had was when mum bought a 6' one, and then decided not to put it up. This bugged me da, as he loves having one, so he cut one of the bigger branches off the bottom, found a nice piece of clay pipe in the back garden, and used that as a pot with some bricks to hold it up. I saw it and decorated it with them tacky gifts you get in crackers and some dangly earrings, as well as a really old, manky bit of tinsel. Perfect

We fluctuate year to year between a real tree and an artificial one. It's really easier to put up a real tree. The little dots rub off of the fake tree limbs, and I can't tell which branches go in what holes, so the artificial tree starts looking a bit like a green scarecrow. However I bought new decorations last year and decorated the tree in beaded pears, apples, grapes, pomegranits and orange slices, gold ribbons, and gold and burgundy glass balls. It was really pretty! Looked like one of the trees in "Home Interiors". Usually we just put up the collections of ornaments from over the years, you know decorations we made for Mom and Dad as kids, stuff we were given, things we bought, old glass strings of lights and new mini-flickering strings, along with tinsel, and strings of popcorn or cranberries. And candy canes of course! We love decorating the tree!

I that Christmas song, Mich ... I mean Lurchele!
I didn't put up a tree last year for the first time. I was feeling lonely, and too busy. This year, however, I've got TJ ... who says he not only wants a *huge* tree, but want to CUT IT DOWN HIMSELF! I told him to have fun. I'll be home keeping the cocoa warm.

Yeah... it is too bad, isn't it!??
I guess you don't get too thrilled about celebrating C-mas with your family when your Mom tells you to get a different boyfriend. Bwahahhahahaaa....

Luckily my family are very understanding....they forgive me for not "doing Christmas"...
But P and I stock up with nice cheese, port, and lots of and and snuggle up and... ...enjoy each other's company .
Of course all that will have to change when we have a family.....
