Hey, if they call me at 5:00 a.m. to go run errands with them and the errands include babysitting... they are asking for it.

I have no doubt that she would injure me for that.

You have no idea how nostalgic this is making me feel, Evangeline. I was at my peak in the 1970s, and started declining around 1980 . For most of the 1980s, there was not one day when I really felt *good*. (Things got sorted out somewhat after that, but my youth is gone forever .)
Did I really pay attention to the pop music of the 1970s? Not really, but I saw movies like "Saturday Night Fever" and "You Can't stop the music."
I remember going to some discos for office parties, and enjoying the sight of so many young people dancing away. It wasn't long after that that break dancing came into vogue, and that was absolutely not possible for me. Even when Don Ameche did some break dancing in "Cocoon," they had to use a double.
The 1970s were just so much more innocent. With all the stress of Vietnam winding down and put behind us, there was a feeling of relief and then dismay with long gas lines and nasty inflation and what Jimmy Carter called "malaise." I was a student and young worker in a town that was tailor-made for students, and none of that bothered me a bit.

What did me in was being asked when I started baking cookies as a Christmas tradition. When I answered 1983, the reply from this olympic diving team hopeful was "Hey, that's the year I was born.".
The 80s in general were not very nice for me. I still lived at home and had to deal with my mother. The 90s were a bit better in some ways. I have to say, in most regards the last few years have been better: Same boyfriend, Better job, more money, and a bunch of other boring stuff.
I was listening to accradio online last night and the song Mexican Radio came on. Why do I remember this song?
I feel a hot wind on my shoulder
And the touch of a world that is older
I turn the switch and check the number
I leave it on when in bed I slumber
I hear the rhythms of the music
I buy the product and never use it
I hear the talking of the DJ
Can't understand just what does he say?
I'm on a mexican radio. I'm on a Mexican - whoah - radio
I dial it in and tune the station
They talk about the U.S. inflation
I understand just a little
No comprende, it's a riddle
I'm on a mexican radio. I'm on a Mexican, whoa-Oh, radio
I'm on a mexican radio. I'm on a Mexican, whoa-Oh, radio
I wish I was in Tijuana
Eating barbequed iguana
I'd take requests on the telephone
I'm on a wavelength far from home
I feel a hot wind on my shoulder
I dial it in from south of the border
I hear the talking of the DJ
Can't understand just what does he say?

If it's any consolation, I missed Woodstock too. I was a Juniormin college at the time, and didn't even know there was going to be a Woodstock until it was all over.
But I did see the video of it, and thoroughly enjoyed it.
Anyway, being born *only * 30 or 40 years to late for the music you love is nothing compared to what I have to face: I was born about 200 years too late. I would love to have heard Beethoven playing his piano sonatas for the first time, and pounding the keyboard with such violence that technicians would be on standby to repair the piano between movements.
