Check out the trailer for the new musical "Across The Universe," starring Evan Rachel Wood and directed by Julie Taymor. It is due in theaters this September. And it is FULL of BEATLES MUSIC!!! Woohoo! The movie looks fantastic!

Dear Great Zeus a la mode encarta paradisio expresso! I am stoked.
Thank you, thank you, thank you for that!
But how will I sleep now until I've seen the next Harry Potter film, Shrek III, Across the Universe and Pirates of the Caribbean III? ::sigh::
My jaw almost dropped during the first few seconds of that trailer. Why do British men singing a touching song on a beach get to me like that?
Hope you are well.
Again. Thank you. And I hope this film isn't a disappointment. It has so much to live up to -- representing artists, the Beatles and Vietnam.

Seeing as how the director is woman, it would be sooooo damn cool if the movie was a knockout and she got an Oscar.

... so is it being directed by a cat?
GB, after you posted your link to your guide entry on Ringo, I think clicked away and enjoyed. Very cool! When might that new comic book come out?

But I'm afraid the more I think about this, the worse it might be. I mean, come on. Trying to make a musical out of Beatles music?
Now, I'm not saying anything against the Beatles ... but honestly ... there's a screen play that uses their catalog of work and also makes sense and retains an audience's interest?
Fingers crossed ...

It's been done very successfully already on film - The Magical Mystery Tour. Apart from the love of money, I see no point in making another.

I suspect I may give this one a miss. Musical? Argh. Beatles? Argh.
JEllen is probably sending me a virtual throttling.
I hope you get to see it, hun. It sounds very much like something you'd love. *fingers crossed*

The Magical Mystery Tour is no example of a good movie that uses Beatles music.

The best thing about The Magical Mystery Tour is the great Ivor Cutler. Sorely missed.

One of his greatest claims to fame was being dismissed from the Royal Air Force for "dreaminess".
