Did ya miss me?
Ellen Started conversation Dec 9, 2006
I got moved! I am now in a new residence! The move itself was pretty wild, with most of my LARGE family helping. They were grabbing furniture and boxes at a dizzying pace. Only one box got dropped, breaking my little wooden flute player, but I think he can be glued back together. I didn't manage to get quite everything packed, most notably most of my clothing is still at the house. I have to wash every stich of it before I bring any over to the apartment, because of the moth problem.
The apartment is nice, the living room is huge, the art studio pretty big, and the bedroom rather small. I already have most of my books and dvds unpacked. Makes the place homey. It took forever to get my phone hooked up, hence the extended absence.
Moving was last Saturday, but I didn't take Micio to the new place until Monday. On our way over to the apartment, some idiot rear ended our car. When I say to you that the guy that hit us was strange, I mean he was STRANGE. He was drooling, literally, all over the place, it was gross. Anyway, the car does not appear to be damaged, and Micio and I are okay. I guess that's the important part.
Poor Micio was terribly frightened at first both by the wreck and by the new apartment. But she seems to be adjusting.
I've missed everyone. I'm glad to be back. I'm hoping I can keep my AOL email addresses and get AOL free now that I'm on DSL.
PS I've put Venice pictures all up in my kitchen. They look lovely.

Oh I forgot the most interesting thing about the move. My sofa wouldn't fit through the door! So my brothers had to push it up onto a second story deck, and take it in through the sliding glass door.

Well aside from being a bit chaotic(as moves can be), it sounds like it went relatively smoothly. Good to know that the sofa did get in. I like the idea of Venice pictures in the kitchen.

in your new home JEllen!!
I am dreading the idea of moving....maybe that's why i can't find anything that's suitable.....36 years in the same house means we have gathered lots of stuff, and it'll all have to be sorted out!!!
Did you have lots of junk???I'm terribly sentimental..i keep everything!!!
I hope you and micio will be very happy

* Does a housewarming dance on the way to the kitchen, puts a casserole in the oven and starts pouring *
Congrats on settling into your new home JEllen!

Hiya JEllen! Glad the move went somewhat smoothly. Sorry to hear that idiot hit you, but I'm glad you and Micio are both OK and the car isn't damaged.
What is it about sofas not fitting through? K moved his sofa in through the back when he moved in here- prior to that I had a sleeper sofa and loveseat and the sleeper had to be disassembled to move it in and out.
Hopefully we'll be able to see a couple of photos at some point?
Glad you're back- I did miss you.

I'm still moving stuff. I have to do all my laundry to keep moths from migrating to my new apartment. *sigh* I'M SO TIRED!!! I need moral support, please leave encouraging messages.

Hi, FF! How goes it? It's been a lonely hard week for me. Thanks for the support.

You'll manage Ellen, just take a few deep breaths & envision the nice 'moth-free zone' that your new place will be! And be sure to get some sleep but you're doing that!

hi there....i'm that it's a bad time for you....just think about when you have everything done, and put away,it'll be worth it.
Take a break, and do a little of what you enjoy....does it really matter if you still have boxes to unpack, another few days won't hurt.Give yourself a little me time, and have a !!

Hi JEllen!
Everything will be fine in a couple of days. Do you have some nice, totally useless things in your new appartement yet? They always make everything more comfy...Some candles, some flowers, and I always love fairy lights

Hi JEllen. I know how hard this time must be for you- and I know how exhausting moving is at the best of times. Hang in there, kiddo.
