I'm moving in a week
Ellen Started conversation Nov 25, 2006
A week from today I am moving into a new apartment! It is pretty large, a two bedroom, and even has a small deck. I'll be on the second floor, so I won't have people tromping around above me. A good friend of mine lives in the same complex. I'm sure that will help in my feeling at home there. I'll use one of the bedrooms as my art studio/computer room. I hope Micio isn't too bewildered by the move. I've been packing like crazy, and have almost 40 boxes filled. Now I'm sorting through the dregs, deciding what to give to goodwill. I'm a little nervous about the move because there's no going back. My family is selling the house; it will be hard to see someone else move in here. Nevertheless, I am mostly hopeful and excited. My email address may change too, but I'll be in touch if that happens.

Moving is so exciting, scary, stressful and tiring all at the same time.
<--- you'll be needing lots of that!

Moving is difficult. And I kind of know what you mean about the house- my parents moved to Florida (my mom moved in 1990 and my dad in 2002) and sold the house I grew up in. Occasionally, we pass by on the way to visit my gram, and it creeps me out to see it so different now.
Anyway, I'm glad you found a nice apartment and close to your friend. Please send me your new contact information as soon as you are able?
Good luck with the actual moving part. I'm excited for you having a nice place of your own. Micio should hopefully adapt quickly- as long as you are there and some stuff she is already familiar with, she'll sort out new territory eventually. Herman seemed to settle in here after a few weeks.

Good luck with all the organisation, JEllen!
A room as an atelier sounds wonderful
(Incidently, I'm doing some research at the moment, because I want to move again next spring, but it's still somewhat a secret...)

We've been looking for somewhere for months, and not found anything yet
It's hard,as we've lived her for 36 years, and can't find anything that has all the benefits of this house(mainly storage space)...although we're supposed to be downsizing!!!
You new home sounds lovely.....lots of to you

Happy U-hauling.
Apparently a good trick with cats is to put butter on their paws. They really enjoy licking it off, and they feel at home for having groomed there.
Plus, if you have polished floors, it's comical to watch them skittering around.

Ooh, Ed, that's an old one! I reckon if Micio is anything like Yoda the joy of wall to wall boxes full of possibly Interesting Things will have her in 7th heaven. So long as Mummy is there & the food bowls & litter tray get established straight away, she will be fine; obviously keep a very close eye on the door though.
Have fun JEllen, nothing quite so exciting BUT exhausting as setting up in a new place, especially one that really is YOURS, te he, you can be as outrageous/impractical/messy/pathologically ordered as You wish; what jolly good fun! Especially in your very own atelier; mine is tiny but the average "normal" type human is in awe when they enter!
