I just spilt peach juice on my keyboard. The result is that the space key doesn't work, or rather it does work but it either jams or takes ages to come back up. So don't expect anything amazingly deep or coherent from me for a while, as I have to copy and paste spaces which takes ages.
I can do smileys though

eeekkk, how sucky, I continually do crap like that, with cereal and milk, tea, coffee, crisps, tortilla chips, and various alcoholic beverages..in fact the volume control doesn't work at all for some reason! Can't think why...it's not like I hold the keyboard up and give it a really good bone rattling shake to get said crap out
Don't really know how you are gonna get the sticky peach juice off, mebbe you could take the keyboard apart and give it clean, altho if your anything like me, when I put stuff together again there is always some screw, washer, shiny white bit left over that I don't know where it came from, perhaps it Q.T'd from elsewhere, or I made a mini black hole vortex when I was messing with electronics....
Mebbe if you let your keyboard get dusty or throw some chalk on it, it might dry it up

Roadkill,
Open the keyboard, carefully take the layers of sticky plasticky whatsits out and clean them with a clean damp cloth. When they are completely dry again re-assemble the keyboard. I did this once with - big surprise - a full glass of rioja. But do it as soon as possible before the acid in the juice affects all the whaddayacallems. (apologies for all the techno-speak )
Good luck!

Manical vixen-
Nice to know I'm not the only one!
az - Thanks for the advice! You are a star . I took the space bar off, it's the only one I'm having problems with. I may turn the computer off and do that in the next few days.

I do sympathise Roadkill! Mine is pretty disgusting, i find that dropping cigarette ash on it helps dry up the sticky stuff nicely.
Yes, do PLEASE turn the Beast off first; visions of Roadkill nicely fried
Rattling noises in techno stuff are my speciality. I took my nice, shiny new mobile phone back & complained that it rattled ominously, please could i have a new one? The sales person said "You dropped it didn't you?" accusingly, I was able to reply truthfully "No!"
In actual fact, i had hurled it at the wall in utter frustration...

Benefits of smoking, part one: when you get ash in the keyboard, it dries up the sticky stuff down there.
I'm a non- smoker, i'll have to spill salt and pepper down there or summin.
I nicked my mum's keyboard, so the keyboard is unplugged and ready for cleaning. Space bar all fixed, the easy way.

That was why the copy- and- paste mechanism was developed.
Phones are nightmares. As is MSN. It's added you but I can't see a little green figure that indicates I can chat .

Roadkill,
I meant unscrew it from the back and take out the layers with all the connecting thingys and make sure they are cleaned and dried, not just remove bits from the top of the keyboard. Well, I suppose it depends on how much juice you spilled.

I'll do that as well. I spilt about half a glass, and a lot of it drained. Still, worth a look.

The keyboard on my lap top isn't working at all at the moment, I'm having to plugh a keyboard into it.
I spilt blackcurrent squash on my calculator but it worked fine until part way through my 'environental measurement' exam when the bracket key got stuck down.
Hpe you manage to clean up all the peach jouice and end up with a fully functional space bar.

ME TOO! I haven't a clue how it all goes wide sometimes, it's rather a sore point with me (don't ask!)
But if there is any way to make it a bit smaller for us folks with little dinky ancient screens, we would be very grateful!
--glad i seem to be able to post a message here, can't access my own journal at the moment, i reckon they hope we wil give up & go away!

It's wide on my screen too, just enough to have to scroll a bit to read the full line.
I can't get pages to load most the time at the moment, not entirely sure why I'm still trying.

*waves at abbi, whilst simultaneously holding , typing, drinking & smoking*
The chances of my keyboard not being destroyed are slim, i think it has built up a natural immunity!

Eyes again, Terri, and yet MSN is still being infuriating .
I think it's because when I did the whole joinedupwordsthing it was too long for one line so it extended the screen. If you press control and move your third mouse button (if you are lucky enough to have a third mouse button) around then you should be able to decrease the font size. Might work, might not.
