Hi! I'm leaving you a note.. because.. well because I am! at this feat of thoughtfulness..
It's even later for you than it is for me, I'm Californian..
But it's late enough..
Hope you're having an awesome night!

yes, it's been good, watched plunkett & macleane and trainspotting and ate popcorn... i guess it is or was saturday so there are people in the world doing more exciting things but... i'm content.
thanks for saying hi!
Hallo :)

Oooo Jonny Lee Miller movies! Nice!
*giggle* Can't be too hard to get more exciting than sitting at work waiting for boyfriend to show up...

Hallo :)
Jane Bane Posted Jun 10, 2002
hmm, i think Regeneration was going to be on tonight. apparently that has him and Jonathan Pryce. i think i've tried to watch that in the past and fell asleep in the attempt.. something to do with WWII surgeons
for me, the real significance of trainspotting was my simultaneous discovery of irvine welsh's writing, lou reed's music and ewan mcgregor's um...acting. after that there were still layers and layers of things to appreciate, like when i gradually grew to understand what they were saying...
Hallo :)
Pete *not quite dead yet* Posted Jun 10, 2002
due to accents or experience?
hmm Jonny Lee as a WWII surgeon.. don't know if i can see it, but then again, Chris O'Donnell played a WWII (I?) soldier and I never thought I'd be able to believe that...
I'm learning GuideML!

Hallo :)
Jane Bane Posted Jun 11, 2002
owning the film allowed me to watch it over and over and over... plus i read the book and that kind of helped familiarize me with the dialect. i really like the accents. reading Irvine Welsh's books aloud is fun.
good luck with the guideML... i was pretty satisfied with myself when i got my first edited entry together. there's always that clinic page to refer to, there's no way i'd remember everything otherwise.
Hallo :)
Pete *not quite dead yet* Posted Jun 11, 2002
*grin*
I just need to add more content to my page, so that I can use boxes and such.. the MLClinic is how I'm learning this..
I tried to learn HTML once, this is easier..
-Cymbeline, who thinks both bouncy and snicker should be smileys.
Hallo :)
Jane Bane Posted Jun 12, 2002
yeah, wouldn't it be exciting if there were new smileys once in awhile?
Hallo :)
Jane Bane Posted Jun 13, 2002
yeah, i know they can't take every suggestion, since i'm sure every single researcher has one... however, just seems like an awful omission for this place. i didn't get it for awhile, until the continuous references to towels finally reminded me of the significance of towels in the book.. i never read the book but i did see and enjoy heartily the BBC miniseries which is now out on DVD... tempted to get it though it is a little expensive. really i should just take the time and read the book(s). i have them in a huge volume, tried to read them once but it was so nearly identical to the movie i felt like 'what's the point?'
Hallo :)
Pete *not quite dead yet* Posted Jun 13, 2002
42 is the point..
but if you mean the point of reading them..
well..
because DNA wrote them.
Dunno, I think they are wonderful..
I'm waiting for my little brother to finish so I can do a reread.

Hallo :)
Jane Bane Posted Jun 16, 2002
so many books, so little time.
stuck in the middle of a very dense and long book called The Unconsoled, and i have a lineup of other stuff behind it. and here i was thinking i had lots of spare time...
Hallo :)
Pete *not quite dead yet* Posted Jun 17, 2002
The Unconsoled.. is it any good? who writes it?
I understand about the long reading list.. I keep going on these book-buying sprees and then I end up with like 7 books lying around the house unread..
-Cymbeline
Hallo :)
Jane Bane Posted Jun 18, 2002
exactly... though i'm kind of a lazy reader so it takes me a long time to get through a book so even though i usually only buy three books at a time, tops, it's still a daunting backlog.
The Unconsoled is by Kazuo Ishiguro, author of Remains of the Day. the unconsoled is a good book, it's just that it kind of lacks a certain edginess that i typically look for. it's a bit surreal and it has its funny moments but it's all very subdued. though actually i am in a bit of suspense about what's going to happen THURSDAY NIGHT when there's a big concert upon which rests the hopes and dreams of the entire city... too convoluted to explain plus i wouldn't want to spoil it for you.
Hallo :)
Pete *not quite dead yet* Posted Jun 19, 2002
i'll have to check it out..
i'm reading "neverwhere" by neil gaiman right now, because it just came in the mail.. i'm actually pretty caught up with my backlog now.. (I read really fast, heh..)
Especially since I can't go lump at the pool.. Freakin' sunburn..
*giggle*
