That sounds absolutely gorgeous. But how can you define 32 degrees C as a bit chilly? That would qualify as a heat wave for us!

It's only because of the ocean breeze - it was so windy yesterday that it was kicking up the sand - which was blowing so hard that it stung when it hit skin! Ouch!

Ouch! Sand blasting is good for stripping paint, but not a lot of fun otherwise. smiley - winkeye

Oh, is that what it was doing!

I'm home again now....
Same old- same old again, about a dozen loads of sand coated laundry to do...

Oh well, try getting someone else to do it for you, it might work smiley - ok

Still holidaying at home here, gonna go see Spiderman this afternoon, it's not supposed to be out til tommorrow but the cinema say they're showing it today, and who am I to argue?

Lady Scott

Yeah, right.... what planet do you live on? On this planet, the mom does the laundry because no one else could be bothered to do it, they just want clean, sand-free clothes. Got it all done, though..... Musta been 8 loads to wash...

Hmmm...... wonder if the theatres have the date wrong or the ads have the date wrong? Guess you'll find out today....

No mistake, went to see it, absolutely fantastic! WOOHOO!
My mum used to leave the washing until we did it ourselves, cos we all wanted clean clothes too, and eventually we worked out that we'd have to do it ourselves. Try it.

smiley - laugh Guess she showed you, huh?

We're in the middle of a drought complete with water restrictions, or I'd try it... but if I left everything for everyone to do their own right now, instead of doing 4 or 5 loads twice a week (normally, the mountains of laundry after coming back from the shore was an exceptional case) we'd probably be doing 20 loads a week. I even turned off the water softener since it uses so much water. But this area is way down total rainfall-wise - even though we've had a good bit of rain in the last month or so, it was just so far down that it's going to be a long time before they ease the water use restrictions, so I try to help out any way I can so we dont' run out of water altogether...

Glad you enjoyed your movie!smiley - smiley Somehow, the idea of a spiderman movie seems a bit too cartoon-like for me - just like I couldn't get into the batman movies because all I could think of was the played for gags tv version from the 60's - it just seemed a bit too incongruous.

Yeah, the Batman movies were crap, this is the first time I've been to see a Comic book movie and come out without picking little holes in it for hours. And they picked my favourite comic ever, not sure if I should admit this, but Spidey was always my hero when I was a kid. I used to have a stack of spidey comics as tall as I was, til my Mum gave 'em to a jumble sale while I wasn't watching! smiley - yikes They were worth a fortune as well, and it's taking me years to get them all back again.
I wish we could have a drought and water restrictions, you couldn't believe it's the middle of June here at all, permanently drizzling and 'orrible. smiley - blue

Oh it's started raining here finally, we seem to have it every few days, and the last couple of days have been downright rainy and cold for June, but over the last few years we're down about 40 inches for total rainfall, which means the water table is down many many feet below normal. Not good for those who have wells, particularly.

One reason Clive is excited about coming to the US is that we get so many thunderstorms here, but we're kinda figuring it will be typical british weather while he's here based on how it's been the last couple of days (he arrives wimpy and will be here for just over 3 weeks). Anyhow, he says you don't get thunderstorms there at all ( at least not in the part of the country where he lives, apparently), so he's hoping to see some while he's here.... watch this be the only 3 week period this summer when we dont' get any thunderstorms!

I must be the only mother in the history of the world who hasn't tossed out or given away some collection my kid had that is eventually going to be worth a fortune... We seem to have everything that ever came into this house.

We get enough thunderstorms down here, mind you, I'm right next to the Atlantic Ocean so the weather is more exagerated!
I must try and swap Mums then, you sound much better for keeping useful stuff!
And we're still having a crappy June, whatever happened to flaming June eh? smiley - winkeye

We had another thunderstorm last night - saw lightning off in the distance while I was driving home from the grocery store - too bad its the last we'll likely see for at least 3 weeks, since Clive arrives around 4pm today! Some of those storms can be pretty violent, though, and then we end up with tornados spinning off of them - not so much in this part of the country, but they get a lot of them in the midwest states - they call that area tornado alley.

Little too late to switch moms though - your collection disappeared years ago. And yeah.... I'm old enough to be your mother. Ack... Now I feel really old. However.... If you want another mom who won't toss out your collections, feel free to stop by my adoption center - Elly started it way back when she was feeling motherless one time. Schmaltzy place most of the time, but oh well.... Come to think of it, you're not as old as Happy and Amy P (two of my "adopted" kids), so just thinking of being old enough to be your mother shouldn't make me feel so awful old. Ok, I'm better now....

I've seen you discussing the latest Indiana trend in everyone's name, but I'm having trouble finding a satisfactory explanation of it - did you find one yet? I'm quite surprised Indiana hasn't shown up in your name too - if it's just referring to the whole Indiana Jones thing, it would seem to suit you somehow.... I did find the garden gnome explanation though, which is a very fetching addition to your name..... but havent' seen an explanation of the squiggle yet.... I guess the floopy dress must defy explanation...smiley - erm

The Indiana thing is far too widespread for my liking, according to Mushy, it's just UH and red dog being damn weird again and it's caught on. The Floopy Dress first turned up on "The Blood" where I was doing Kate Winslet impressions, and it just sort of stuck! Whereas the Squiggle, was me testing people's eyesight, you get an observancy award as well, cos most people haven't even noticed!
I shouldn't bother being worried about being old enough to be my Mum, I am very young really. I may get round to stopping by your adoption centre, though I have recently forgiven my Mum, as she managed to get me an Illustrated "The Hobbit" to complete my collection of Alan Lee illustrated Tolkien books for my birthday.
Your storms sound far too violent for my liking, I think I'll stick with our nice mild ones instead!

Our storms keep things.... smiley - erm ..... exciting, yeah, that's a good word.... here.

So you've bowed to peer pressure and put Indiana in your name.... I do like the temple of Loom touch though. Just gotta be a little bit different, don't you? smiley - laugh

Glad to see you stopped by the adoption center... I think the addition of you and elwood should perk the place up a bit.... that is if you actually want to be adopted smiley - winkeye If you don't.... well, I wouldn't adopt Clive for what should be obvious reasons, so he moved in next door instead.... You could always move in next door too...

smiley - laugh I was hoping to be a kind of "Fonzy" addition to your extended family over there actually, as I thought that might be kind of smiley - cool
I don't have to be different, it was just too good a pun to waste!

Lady Scott

Glad to see you like puns.... Paul H started a pun thread for me, cause I love them - unfortunately *some* people on hootoo don't seem to appreciate the art of a good pun. But I've been married to a punster for longer than you've walked this earth! smiley - winkeye

Yeah, you can be a Fonzy type of addition to the family.... you need Fonzy type of name, though.. lets see..... Squirrley? no.... maybe Squiggley? no..... that's too close to Lenny and Squiggy from LaVerne and Shirley, and those two were such gross characters that I'm sure you don't want to emulate that..... a pun name would be fine, too, if you can come up with one.

Clive arrived yesterday around 4pm yesterday.... and right on cue, it started to rain.. and I mean it poured. Almost the whole drive back from the airport, I could hardly see the road because it rained so hard, but he did get to see a bit of lightning along the way. It had been almost 90F when we left for the airport, and the temp dropped very quickly when the rain moved in. Was nice and cool last evening. Poor guy had left home at what would have been 9pm the day before here... he said he was ready to go back to his motel room at 9pm last night.

Poor Clive, hope he feels better when he wakes up!
Can't think of any good pun names off hand at the moment, I better do some thinking.

Yes, he's much better today... although at this hour his body clock is still not quite adjusted to the time change.

We showed him around the local area some today, even went to one of the chocolate factories....

You have local smiley - choc factories? How lucky is that?

A little story for you....

Lady Scott

We have 3 chocolate factories in the area.... Elizabethtown is home to an M&M/Mars factory, Lititz has the one and only Wilbur Chocolate factory (excellent chocolate - even Clive was impressed - made in smaller quantities.... you can check out their website here: http://www.wilburbuds.com/wilburbuds/ ) and just up the road about 45 minutes we have the Hershey Chocolate factory in Hershey, Pa.

You probably missed the last LED or so of backlog on 3n since I know you're allergic to backlog... but you might find out some very interesting...umm.... facts..... about Lancaster County if you do read it, for a change smiley - winkeye Hey, it wasn't my idea.... those really are names of towns here!
