I think they are....But then again I'm biased.

I consider ones like DCS or Bill Watterson to be artists. Bob and George, 8bit theater and the like are funny but not exactly artistic. Because of the lack of any drawing. The writing is good though.

I like Tim Burton's Batman. Much more than I like Schumacher's.

Michael Keaton was perfect as Batman, it's a shame they replaced him, plus his gotham, batmobile and batsuit were far superior to any of the three later ones. Although Batman Begins isn't the same continuity.
