Conrad Polytechnic - The Truth Behind the Myth
This is Conrad Polytechnic calling to you from a draughty cottage on a Welsh hillside. I have chosen to come amongst you after a lengthy absence so that I may listen and learn. The dark night has fallen, yet the whisky glass remains half full, and as the stars come to keep me company, I am moved to play a lament on the Crwth, an instrument much beloved of the Welsh ancients. I am chilled and saddened by the Silence of the Lambs, by which I mean not the book nor yet the film but the deafening hush where once the sheep bleated on the hillside, a clamour which one only notices when it falls dead. I have brought you these words so that I might tell you of where I am and what I do, and I shall speak more as we become more comfortable in each other's compny.
