Goodbye 2001...

This has been quite a year.
Fights have been fought, and tears have been shed. This year was the first year March 27 passed by with no one to send a birthday card to. And this April brought the first anniversary of a death. One of my coworkers and my boss both lost their fathers on the same weekend in November, and a funeral was held on the day that would have been my mother and stepfather's 25th anniversary. Another coworker just lost her husband on Christmas Eve. And that's just on the personal side... I doubt anyone will forget the events of September 11...
But don't get me wrong... Good things happened this year too... This year, I began a job that allows us to more than just survive, with wonderful coworkers--the office is like a family, even if I have been a little stand-offish at times. I'm married to a wonderful man, whom I really don't deserve, who says the same thing about me (well, except for the 'man' part
) and have been for nearly four and a half years. I found h2g2, and have made many wonderful friends. I've even made a couple of attempts to make friends IRL, which for me is a major undertaking... Thanks in large part to my friends, I've started to allow myself to feel again... And I put myself down less (believe it or not)
I wonder what next year holds?

Strangely enough, I think one reason I've been in such a strange mood all week is because I hadn't done anything Christmassy yet... I mean, I finally got the decorations out last night, and tonight I moved the recliner (luckily, I didn't have to move the couch after all) to make room for the tree. The tree's all decorated now (but a lot of the ornaments got broken/lost last year, when the tree was a giant cat toy)(I miss Homer and Rusty...) and I got to listen to my Christmas CDs while I was doing it (Tom's not a fan of carols
) And I feel much better...
So I think I'll do a little decorating here...

Hmm... We might have someone else joining us here at h2g2... She was walking by, and noticed the title on my space. 'Paper lady? Why do they call you paper lady?'
'Well, I chose it...'
'Why?'
'Well, the explanation's kind of long-winded... But it's on here... *scrolled down* See, it's that long...'
'Oh...'
'I can give you the address...'*wrote www.bbc.co.uk/h2g2/guide on post-it note*
'OK, thanks!' *comes back* 'I'm sorry, but I can't read this...' (My handwriting is really bad, and she's never had to decipher it before...) So I told her what it said... Anyway, we'll see...
