I dunno religion makes my flesh crawl, I find it's a mental virus that leaves people detached from reality.

I want to build great big chapples in the name of athism and realism. some good philosophies to get people of the comunity together and helping each other without belonging to any silly religion.

I love religion. I love spending time at Mass. Yet I'm in the Pagan club at my college...
Just a pursuer of spirituality, me...
They call people like me gnostics. Not agnostics.

Ah-hah... Doc MO, you yanking on Amy's chain again?
Personally, churches don't make my flesh crawl - unless they're the evangelical kind of church, with lots of shouting and faith healing. Churches promote healthy debate and spiritual growth. Even though I'm an agnostic, I believe that the church - any kind of real church, not necessarily Christian - is essential to a community.

I was joking about the agnostic church
but not about religon in general, I belive much more can be gained from healthy debate in philosophy then religon wich premotes false ideas which can lead people to ponder questions which have anwsers as plain as the eye can see.
I read the website's 'who are we' page, I basicaly see that they belive in one true infinite god who is three things in emodyment. now I don't know about fantisy but in this universe (asuming god effects this universe) infinity can not be divided like that, not at all in any way.
also is goes on about the bibal being the word of god, true in all it says, why then was it writen by human beings? do they also belive that any human being writing anything down is also the word of god? it's all to obvously a cult for my liking and it's why I look upon churches as a bad thing in the comunity. (just because everyone does it dosn't make it right)

Any organization that promotes faith in a benevolent god and a love of other human beings is a noble organization in my book.
Take what you will and leave the rest, I say.

Yes but you don't see, people promote this loving other people. Religion teaches you to love god, and make sure others do too, which in alot of places has lead to more bloodshed and loss that anything else.
If they put on the mission statement that they were all for proting fairness and caring no matter what religion, creed, colour then they may win some browny points. but it dosn't.

You know, people blame their religion for all sorts of reprehensible behavior, but when it comes right down to it, the person doing the deed is the one to blame, not the religion. Most religious organizations will tell you that they care for everyone, no matter what faith they happen to be. There are some, however, who believe that unless you're of the same faith as they are, then you will be punished by God. Those people can...well... go to hell!
