What on earth should I put as a subject?
Amy Pawloski, aka 'paper lady'--'Mufflewhump'?!? click here to find out... (ACE) Started conversation Feb 10, 2004
Just want to apologize in advance for any inadvertant offense...
Faith appears to be on a sleep strike, so I'm at the point that I feel half drunk from tiredness and all tact has flown, and I'd detached enough that I don't care. I'm also too wired to nap during the day, so don't tell me to

Lady Scott Posted Feb 11, 2004
She's been on a sleep strike for how long? Certainly no more than a few days....
I didn't get any real sleep for probably the first 2 years of Amy+'s life.
Are you saying that you're letting her take naps during the day? If she doesn't want to sleep during the night when *normal* people sleep, then she doesn't need to sleep during the day either! Pick at her all day long so she can't sleep. Sure she'll be cranky, but this is one of those times when turnabout is fair play. When you finally let her go to sleep (at a reasonable hour, sometime after dark), she'll be all too glad too go to sleep for a while.

Yes, I'm aware that you didn't get to sleep for 2 years. I'm sorry if that makes me ineligible to express the fact that I'm unable to function. Just like I shouldn't complain when I know people with *real* problems.

your eligible to express the fact your unable to function...hehehe I think you got your Mom's membership package a while ago so no worries there...and one can complain...it's sometime a helpfull way to vent (or at least I think so) but when all is said and done then remebmer that it could be worse
but the no nap during the day thing sounded like sound advice...and if that doesn't work a little shot of whiskey and I bet she would be out like a light

I didn't mean it like that Amy - yes, you have every right to complain, it's downright near impossible to function with almost no sleep. I was only trying to point out that I've been through it too.
Oh never mind, I shouldn't try to give advice, considering that I didn't do such a hot job myself at the time.

I overreacted. But I did apologize in advance for being b*tchy.
If she has no naps during the day, she will be overtired and wired and won't sleep any at night anyway. I know. I've tried the no-nap thing. Also, if she doesn't nap, I either get to not eat all day, or else try to stomach something with her screaming. Granted, not eating would likely be a good thing--last time I weighed myself, I weighed what I did a couple days before Faith was born, and I don't have a baby, placenta, and amniotic fluid as an excuse. Plus, if she takes no naps, nothing will get done around the house--Tom's never home, so he can't do much. He's working 2 jobs, and we're just scraping by. And it got plain disgusting around here the 3 weeks I was unable to do anything because I was too sick. How the are you supposed to do anything around the house when your baby doesn't have an older sibling for entertainment?
And I've had maybe 7 nights of decent sleep since November, so it's not just a new thing. Why do you think I had a cold for 3 weeks? For that matter, I'm still stuffed up, and it's been over a month that I caught this.
Tom can't help--he has to get up at 6, doesn't get a chance to go to bed until 11 or 12, and so certainly cannot be getting up at 3. Besides, she won't accept him instead of me in the middle of the night, whether she's just eaten or not.

Trust me, I sympathize with all that. I *know* what it's like, I *know* it's not easy and she's probably making you crazy. I'm *very* familiar with the syndrome of minor illnesses dragging on for sometimes several times longer than usual, simply because your body's usual defenses are so compromised by lack of sleep.
As far as housework goes, I had no one to entertain her either, so I either did it with her screaming, or not at all. I essentially did the bare minimum - cooking dinner, washing dishes and doing laundry. I think I was too sleepy and exhausted to notice anything else needing done, so I don't even remember if the place was disgusting looking.
You *will* get through this - just don't expect so much of yourself, because you just can't do it, not when you haven't had even minimum sleep.

I don't mind the place looking lived in. I'm not the one that thinks housework is such a big deal. I am, however, the one that's home and awake for more than an hour or so a day.
I can't even get off my fat lazy * to do the dishes once a day. I'm on here so much because this I can do while holding Faith. Yes, it appears I'm spoiling her, now that she's not sick anymore. But at least I have proof that I'm not the only one that can't get anything done with only a firstborn in the house--I'll just have to show Tom your post in isolation
*my words, so don't heap stuff on anyone else

Oh, so Tom is expecting you to keep the place looking like you have nothing else to do with your time but clean?
Think I'll send an email...

No, I didn't advise her on which household objects look really threatening when held in a menacing way by an overtired new mother....

Yeah, for once, I actually got to go to bed before midnight last night It wouldn't've been nearly as lovely of a conversation as we ended up having
Well, like I told Also Ran on the phone, after finally whining big on here, Faith went down at 10, got up at 6ish, ate, and didn't get up again until after 10! I got to go to bed at 11, so I actually feel human again! One advantage of feeling due to no sleep--No hangover today
No, Tom doesn't expect the place to look like a motel (though I've been known to accuse him of just that)--we just have different definitions of what constitutes 'lived-in' vs 'hurricane-has-hit' And, to be honest, it *doesn't* take that long to clean up for company, and it would take *less* time if I'd take advantage of naps to pick stuff up... Or if I'd put books away when I'm done with them
*checking email* *giggles at subject title of email from Lady Scott*

Midnight might be an okay time to call, Also Ran 1. I think the message was that Amy wasn't sleeping anyway.
