Somedays the consequesnces of being at the bottom of the bottle dont seem to be as big as the consequences of not being there!

Well, my head hurts, quite a lot so I guess it was mission accomplished.
Actually had a good night last night. The lads came around for a boozy session and some betting on "Banzai". Bet Now!!
I hope everyone else had a good time too. Romantic or otherwise.

Yes, a very good time.... and from the looks of things on this thread, most everyone else must have been otherwise occupied too.

I was busy counting my Valentine cards. yeah, right:
Total: Two, in 25 years, and none this year wasn't Valentine clubbed to death or something? So its another one of those great celibrations, we do seem rather good at them might manage to coax myself out tonight for 12 pints of and 10 or so double s, and a kabab/pizza/chinese/curry to finish the evening

I think he was strangled.
Actually, checking the Catholic Encyclopaedia - http://www.newadvent.org/cathen/15254a.htm (rather a grand name, I wonder if it's actually endorsed by the Vatican):
"At least three different Saint Valentines, all of them martyrs, are mentioned in the early martyrologies under date of 14 February. One is described as a priest at Rome, another as bishop of Interamna (modern Terni), and these two seem both to have suffered in the second half of the third century and to have been buried on the Flaminian Way, but at different distances from the city."
Alternatively, http://www.catholic.org/saints/saints/valentine.html gives the following badly spelt information, presumably regarding the first of those mentioned above:
"Valentine was a holy priest in Rome, who, with St. Marius and his family, assisted the martyrs in the persecution under Claudius II. He was apprehended, and sent by the emperor to the prefect of Rome, who, on finding all his promises to make him renounce his faith in effectual, commended him to be beaten with clubs, and afterwards, to be beheaded, which was executed on February 14, about the year 270."
Research boy comes through with the info.

2Legs: Sorry you feel that way. some of us do like the day, anyway. I've always liked it, even when there was really no one in my life to share it with. Must have something to do with liking heart designs and the color red , and all variations on the color red (such as pink, mauve, burgundy, rust, and pink).
guess it's a female thing..... although I'm sure not all females would agree.
However, instead of being concerned over whether or not I recieved any valentines, I was much more concerned with what I could do for those I loved yesterday, reciprocity was simply not needed. Granted, this is an attitude which has come with more maturity, as I was always sorely disappointed when I was young.

I usually end up just ignoring it, after all, 8 days later there's a far more important event.
