Entry date - June 27th

Finally, it's happened. I've been thinking about it for about two years, and I've taken the plunge.
I've bought myself an apartment, pretty much guaranteing that I'll be staying in this country for quite some time longer. I'll be moving in next Thursday (27th of June) and it'll be sooo good to have my own place, and all to myself.smiley - smiley

Anyone that feel like visiting is welcome to do so, although, I won't have much in the way of furniture to start with. I think I'll start by gettign a bed and a chair, so that I can sleep and eat, and then go from there.

On a slightly different note, the Glasgow Tigers American Football team played its 5th game of the season this past weekend, and got whipped by the Yorkshire Rams by 78(!)-0. We were 15 players for the Tigers that travelled down south to face a very strong Yorkshire side, and in the end it showed. Most of us had to play the entire game without any rest.
Personally, I must have done soemthing good, cause the coach decided I'd earned an Offensive MVP award for the game (honestly don't know why). I also got my first tackles on defense and my very first ever career sack, which means that I tackled the quarter back behind the line of scrimmage before he had a chance to throw the ball away.smiley - smiley
Wooho!

First Tigers game of the season...

This is it. The season has officially started, and the Glasgow Tigers are currently tied leaders of the BSL Div 2 North. BUt that's because no other teams in that division played this weekend, and we drew 6-6 to East Midlands Saxons.

Sunday, April 21, 2002. Glasgow Tigers travelled to Boston, Lincolnshire (a mere 7 hour bus ride) to face the newly formed East Midlands Saxons.
Kick-off at 2:30pm meant that we had to leave Glasgow at 6am to be there in time. Not an ideal time to start out. We'd probably been on the road for several hours before any of the East Midlands crew woke up at all.
Anyways, the game started, all was fine, and on our first posession, we scored on a run play off the left side. I botched the extra point snap, so we had a 6-0 lead early in the first quarter.

East midlands soon replied, though, with a couple of good plays and a good kick-off return, and it took them just a few minutes to even out the score.

I guess it showed that it was the first real game of the season for both teams, as there wer a lot of mistakes, and a lot of turnovers all throughout the game. And none of the teams were able to capitalise on the other teams mistakes. Fumbles, interceptions, penalties (I think East Midlands had about 12 penalties for the same thing during the course of the game) and stalled drives were how the game went on for the remaining three quarters.

Final score: Glasgow Tigers 6 - 6 East Midlands Saxons

Good to be back on the field, though.

Football season up and running....at last.

Claymores season started yesterday, our own starts this coming Sunday. Life is good. Football's back in town.
And it couldn't have started better. The Barcelona Dragons came to visit Glasgow, and they were slain by the Claymores, 45-17. We all knew that anyways, didn't we? A Claymore always slays a Dragon, just check any mythological saga you like.smiley - smiley

And the Glasgow Tigers Senior team will see it's first game action this coming Sunday, when we go to Boston, East Midlands to play. Of course, the Tigers have been around before, but then we were called the Strathclyde Sheriffs instead. This is a new season, we have a good team, and we all think that we can do well this season. We'll just have t wait until this weekend to see.

The Tingles

Only 5 days until the first game of the 2002 NFL Europe season. I am gettign the Tingles, you know, the feeling you get in your gut just before you're going to do something really exciting, like gooing to a concert with your favourite band, or seeing a football match taht you've looked forward to for a long time, or taking your driving test or something like that.
It's not a feeling one can put into words, but when you feel it, you know instinctively what it is, as there is nothing that can compare to it.
Only five more days to go.. Bring on Sunday. Bring on the Claymores.
