I'm having a commercial break while watching War of the Worlds (with Tom Cruise) but PaulH's situation worries me more

I can think of plenty of songs about rain and rivers.

"Till the clouds rolle by" (Jerome Kern)

"Isn't it a lovely day to be caught in the rain?" (Fred Astaire, in "Top Hat")

"It's gonna rain all through the day, it's gonna rain all through the night" (From "110 in the shade," by Tom Jones and Harvey Schmidt)

"Soon it's gonna rain" (from "The Fantasticks," also by Jones and Schmidt)

"Pennies from heaven"

"Singin' in the rain"

"Two by two" (from a Richard Rodgers musical about Noah's ark)

"Big Water" is about flooding on the Mississippi

There's also "The Unicorn" song which, contrary to popular belief is NOT by the Irish Rovers or even anyone Irish. It was written by Shel Silverstein, a black Jew from New York.

Every time my friends in the band point this out to some drunken lout who requests it, it goes in one ear and out the other.

But, still they try. Of course, we all know Shel from "Where the Sidewalk Ends" and "The Giving Tree".

"Big River" is about the Mississippi. It's from a musical of the same name, based on Mark Twain's Huckleberry Finn.

Dr. John made a very overlooked cd, "Sippiana Herricane", about the flooding of New Orleans

The sun is shining now, but the river will take a few days to recede.
It'll take that long to get used to the bright light that's back in the sky.
