Growing up is overrated, and in any event is no longer an absolute requirement. With lifespans lengthening, another stage of life has been added between adolescence and adulthood: for women, this is the career time that precedes motherhood, and for men it's an extended stay in Guyland while waiting for the women of the same age to finish their pre-motherhood career time.

You may be able to argue that your "Guyland" stage has just been unusually long, or has overlapped some of the other stages....
