Yep, I'm a librarian. 
Today, the public-access Internet computers
are off-limits because we're having printers
hooked up to them. The library network and the
photocopy vendor (which is providing pay-per-copy
printers) have been trying for nine months to
iron out incompatibilities between their software
versions. 
My theory is that computers are a Trojan horse
that was brought here from a distant galaxy by
extraterrestrials who wish to enslave us. The first
stage was to get earthlings addicted to the Internet.
The second stage was to flood Earth computers
with radiation designed to make everybody obese,
especially the children. So far, it's working.
In the third stage, hands will reach from computer
screens and pull people into the computers, where they
will be spirited away to distant planets.

Paul H., it sounds like you've taken a journey through.....the Ffordeian Rift! 
Did you look up Hypatia? She's a cool lady from--um--Kansas City, MO, I think. She's spent the better part of this year campaigning for her library's renovations, dealing with unruly administrators and uncooperative engineers. I lost track of her progress with it, as I've been doing on-line college courses with University of Phoenix since May of this year. Oh, and she regularly posts a Banned Book of the Month for everyone's reading pleasure.
