Messages of support For Arpeggio and LeKZ
a girl called Ben Posted Jul 14, 2001
It seems as if LeKZ has been expelled from H2G2 after just a few days back.
It is also probable that I am posting into a vacuum, since many people will have respected her request to unsubscribe.
Obviously us researchers are not privy to the thinking processes in the Towers. However, it seems to me that LeKZ was modifying her behaviour, and also that other members of the community were coming to understand more about this highly complex, compassionate, honest, kind, and damaged person.
In other words, that she was finding a place for herself, and that people who were at first impatient, or who felt attacked, were beginning to welcome her.
Cutting her off for a week did not help this process of assimilation.
Cutting her off completely will destroy it.
I am afraid that the Towers response will be: "the editor's decision is final" - which is legally true. But morally...
What happens when the editor/s make a bad call? Do they back down, with the fear of loss of face in public? Or are they big enough to reconsider.
This action damages and deminishes the whole of h2g2. Not to mention the hurt inflicted on LeKZ.
*grieving for LeKZ and for h2g2, and off to find out more*

I'm not really here Posted Jul 14, 2001
If she didn't want to be banned for life, she wuoldn't have posted what she did. Her problem is that she thinks she is cleverer than anyone else on this site.
I think that morally the editors have a duty to protect the young people on this site, and one bad apple has a habit of corrupting others around it.

For imformation purposes only:
Apreggio of Lekz is currently ventilating their wrath at the yahoo refugee camp of n2g2 where chaos and anarchy and madness have here-to-for always been welcome. Will keep you posted if things turn ugly. We've never had a lynching there, but there is always a first time.
Now maybe we can find happier things to discuss here.
Please.

JWF, can you please inform me even more and tell me a bit about in what way LeKZ are doing all of that? I would really like to go there and see for myself but for some weird reason yahoo refuses to let me in. I am extremely concerned about LeKZ and what this is doing to their mindset, in fact their entire general behaviour. I wish that they should calm down and talk in a constructive way about really useful subjects again, like in the old days. And also I'm not sure if the people over at n2g2 will be good for them.

Sorry ~jwf~ but no peace for the present, and probably not for a long time yet. Peace doesn't just happen. It demands work, and not easy work.

Like all good things (that involve human beings), peace is a precious commodity that does indeed require hard work, patience and diligence. Never would I be glib about it (as some might wrongly assume) or demean its value and importance. My wish for peace is general and universal and more than anything I else I say, sums up my attitude to all.
The people at n2g2 have welcomed LeKz. Your legitimate concern that some of them might do more harm than good, is well taken. I myself called them an [insidious mind f***] and will continue to do so until I can make sense of the conflicting biographies, contradictory personalities and responses that are LeKz. I'm sure some here would also have liked to have experimented with a tuff love approach, but that is not what they are paid to do. They are essentially cops not counsellors. We got nothing better to do.
Eventually LeKz will figure out that if you're drunk at a bar you shouldn't be poking the bouncer in his beer belly and screaming, "I'm not drunk and watcha gonna do about it!" The bouncer at a bar wouldn't even take the trouble to say, "Shut up and dance or get out." At least LeKz had a warning here, just couldn't sober up fast enough to shut up and dance I guess.
Happily, dancing naked round the campfire of chaos in any state of intoxication or dementia is part of our daily curriculum at the refugee camp. We believe in dancing naked. It helps the circulation.
Happy Saint Swithin's Day Everyone
peace (don't ever doubt that)

Unlike Pillowcase, I CAN access n2g2, and have read the postings from LeKZ. And I have read yours referring to posting in this thread.
Having spent some time reading the postings involved on H2G2, and also the ones referring to it on n2g2, I fail to see how supporting LeKZ has turned into insulting TPTB.
And I don't think this thread needed to be 'spiced up', as you so nicely put it on n2g2.

The really nice thing about n2g2 is that only six or seven of 74 members post regularly. Another half dozen infrequently, whenever they feel they have something to say of a positive nature. The rest are lurkers or as they are known in RL, an audience.
And I have never been quoted out context there either.
peace

For an answer to your question "How did supporting Lekz turn into insulting TPTB?" I refer you to the archives of the Great Vogon Detour, the 3000 plus postings of the now defunct h2g2chat@yahoo, lovingly preserved in the n2g2 Files section, as well as the first 3000 postings of n2g2, for signs that a pattern of insult had been well established prior to anything called a LeKZ befell us.
