Okay, since some people have expressed interest, here is the deal:
I would very much like to meet some of the people the frequent h2g2. But I don´t really have the money to travel out of the country to do it. So I thought, why not just host a meet-up right here in little old Denmark.
I have arranged, hosted and catered about 5 parties for about 30-40 people, so I figure I could do this as well. So consider youself officially invited to Denmark, to the town of Esbjerg where I reside.
I have never been to a h2g2 meet-up, so I don´t know what usually goes on. But was thinking something along the lines of a weekend here in Esbjerg, something along these lines:
Saturday:
A 10-12 hour day of food, drinks, music, drinks, party games, and more drinks
Sunday:
Sightseeing in Esbjerg, with some Museum trips for the interested (we have several interesting things to see here in Esbjerg).
And then Sunday late afternoon/evening everybody goes home and catches up on their h2g2 threads.
I would be making myself avalible to arrange everything, I even have some contacts that can help me find cheap accomedations for the night, so everyone has a place to stay.
Right now I really just need to know how many would be interested in a weekend like that??? We need to be at least 10 people, prefebly 15 for it to work financially with the food, drinks and party hall. So for now I would just like to know how many are interested.
I can throw all this together for 300 DKR per person. That includes renting the party hall, the food and the drinks and even some entertainment maybe. The more people we are, the better food and entertainment we get...
So there... thoughts???, suggestions??? Let´s get this ball roling...

hi!
is this far from Copenhagen?
Because I might be interested to join in!.. I'm from Belgium, but I'm staying in Copenhagen for six days (from 25 august till 30 august). That's too soon, I suppose?
Also : I'm not sure I could make it, because there's a colleague accompanying me (and she won't be interested to come)...
anyway, I'll keep an eye on the conversation here!

...and I think I've mentioned that I'd be interested too... just posting here as well to make sure...

Well, actually I had thought about it being next year, sort of a spring thing. Late march, early april.
Will that help at all in you scheduling St. Hatifat???
The reason for this is that It will give us time to spread the word and get more people interested. Plus, there is a meet-up in Holland late october this year, and people that are going to that one may wish to come to Denmark as well, but maybe they only have money for one of the trips. Therefore I think it´s smart to put a little distance between them.
Other than the timing, what do you think of my plans for the potential weekend. Is 300 DKR a fair enough price for a day with food and drinks and entertainment??? Because I doubt very much I could do it for less.

That sounds better.
About 300 DKR I am not the one to have a word about it. I know that it's about 1/4 of my monthly income, but OTOH the travelling costs will be several times more .

I'm working on it. Maybe I could hitchhike though the Scandinavia if I'm in Stockholm already?

Good idea, st. Dax.
I suggest you make a new page (entry), so that we can advertise by linking from our userpages and /or putting the pagenumber in our nicknames. Then you can go through the thread/s and keep a score of who's coming and such.
Something like this perhaps?:

It doesn't have to be so fancy, and we'll help you if you need it.

Don't worry about the money Hati. You just concentrate on getting there, alright!
There are several of us with good jobs that can chip in. We'll sort it out when that time comes.
I mean that!

Great Idea Bumblebee. Actually I already have someone at the Post working on an area page for me, so we can have our own Scandinavian meet-up page. She promised to have it for me at the beginning of next week.
I was wondering if you and Titania might be interested in being my official liasons for Norway and Sweden, just so the Scandinavian continent is represented. Maybe we can make Scandinavian meet-ups an annual event if we organise ourselves a bit. So far it seems a lot of people are interested, just think about what 6 months of advertising this could do

Since when is that a problem. As a dane I can tell you that I don´t understand a word of norwegian or swedish, but some danes do...
Besides, I was thinking that we could just all speak english together, since people from both Holland and Germany might also be coming... So not a problem as far as I can tell
