Pierre de la Mer ~ sometimes slightly worried but never panicking ~ Posted Sep 25, 2005
Hi friend
my next door neighbour had very poor eye-sight and never recognized me when i met her in the street. then one day she suddenly did - to my big surprise of course.
she told me she has first her left then her right eye fixed within a few weeks. she can read her paper without glasses now! in fact she sees *way* better than i do (i'm okay, but i have to use multifocals at all times and only have ten percent eye sight on my right eye)
did i mention she is 93?

Not been on-line for a few days and have just read of your eye operation Pheloxi .. what an ordeal Glad you have come through it OK.
Eyes are something special , not like having your appendix out or a broken bone fixed, eyes are your windows to the world and to your soul.
Must have been an anxious time for you, especially with the diabetes complication.
Glad that you are home and hope you will be feeling better real soon.

If your TV is anything like ours you are not missing much! There are several days where there is just nothing worth watching other than the News and that can often be depressing or stress making with the stupid decisions made by politicians these days.
Glad to hear you avoided th dreaded awful experience of sickness caused by the anaesthetic .......

I do not watch news on tv...I watch cnn during "breaking news" if it is something intresting....
I watch science fiction, comedy and police series. we have Europe's largest amount of Dutch tv station for 16 million viewers. 3 public / 7 commercial / Dutch version of 2 discovery and related / 3 mtv and related. I can get 3 local for my area, but also locals from 7 other parts of the Netherlands.
so about 35 in all. I am digital viewer so I can get one first public digital stations. soon more to come.
I can 90 tv srations in all, but I only watch Dutch and English language. I watch no sports on tv..

Here in the UK we are being "persuaded" to go digital. I have Freeview which gives me all the channels that do not require a subscription and that is enough to juggle with. With the cost of the license fee here in the UK that is enough to bear without any more.
I watch current affairs, news, some comedy, but much is rubbish (in my opinion) these days, natural history, documentaries and some drama and films.

we do not have license fee.
the Dutch publics have commercials between tv programs. Dutch public stations are licenced broadcaster with paying members who are viewers . the more paying members the more time get. each licenced broadcaster has different kind of viewer. there are example 2 Christian broadcaster, byt know a day some older broadcaster are more general viewers. we als have one for youngster it was started by guy who looked like a kid due to kidney disease who died, because after 2 kidney donors it would noy succed. he left brillian legacy. once he was famed for commercial about cookie.

I had 2 times 10 laser treatments for my retina (back of eyes). I had drops then too and about 150 laser "shoots" against my retina. it was like needle pinching you eyes.

there are different laser treatment
...one I had was to "burn" bad blood vessels made because of walking around with diabetes without knowing.
...the other one is too reshape some near the lens, I think!
I tried think how many times I dripped in my eyes since my diabetes was discovered. I think it is close to 300 times, including check ups, 32 laser treatments and before and after eye operation. left is done 8 times more and after period of rest I was lasered 4 more. times, but I stopped it due to terrible headches.
