every 3 years the health insurance (partly?) pays a complete pair of glasses and spectacle. in between I can claim money from the local goverment which has special bugdet for people with a chronical disease.
the Dutch goverment has bend their bugdet so much last few years that people with a chronical disease were getting less. the promise was not should not be more than 1%. it is more!
the town I live created bugdet compasate it! (see example in the first alinea of this post.
there is a problem with (old and new) heatth insurance. we have so called "no claim" part we supposed to get back if do not use it, but I am diabetic I need insuline, which I know is expensive. I will never get my "no claim" back. in a way I pay more health insurance. insurance means we share the burden.
this week in the news that about 750,000 Dutch people have diabetes and by 2007 it will be 1 million. get out the subsidy for stem cell research!

Ah this is fun. Solidarity. All right, Pheloxi, correct me if I'm wrong. As far as I can understand in the new system we will pay 6,5 percent on our income on basic health-care (that is, up to a maximum of 30.000 Euro in income a year!, every penny that is earned above that amount is not being taxed for health-care.
Now what does a so-called 'Zorg-manager', a manager working in the health-care earn in a year? I'm not talking about a doctor or a nurse here, I'm talking about the 'manager'. To my estimate it must be somewhere in between 100.000 Euro up to 250.000 Euro, depending on his position on the ladder of hierarchy.
I remember that once in the eighties of the last century, somewhat 15 years ago I payed about 18 guilders a month extra for health care. Gradually over the years the amount was raised to about 50 euro's a month which is about 120,00 guilders a month. And it will be more expensive in the years to come.
This is my concern. As far as I am concerned Pheloxi is paying for his own illness and medication, so am I. What freaks me out is that I am paying that ridicously high salary of the Health care manager of lets say 100.000 euro's a year which is only taxed for health care for the first 30.000 euro's.
Pheloxi, is this so? Or am I missing something?

I do not know anything about tax
...I only know that every one pays about Euro 1100 for basic health insurance. you will get more money on the bank, because your employer does not your part of health insurance, which you pays indirectly by with holding it from your pay.
about health care managers income I agree with you, Krabatt.
I think hospitals have too many administrative personel. I think that for 3 administrative personel that retires that should only be replace with 1.
we need get change from off "yes, minister - syndrome", making jobs by creating more administrative personel jobs (less unemployed) to commercial working services.

Ah yes, I'm afraid it's going to be a tax. 6.5 % of bruto income. On top of that the additional premium for the health insurance to the health care company which is about 60 Euro's a month average. It's going to be bloody expensive!
