I think i have been hummed out now, no more humming for a day or two.
£50 for tickets is about the going rate nowadays, where was the venue as that always notches up a few extra squid.
We had new fencing put up about 2 months ago and i looked out of the back window after the heavy wind and everybody elses fences had blown down, and being the evil sod that i am a sly smirk appeared on my face as it looked really weird
But being the nice bloke deep down, i helped erect them again, there were about 5 of us in all and it took all of friday to do it, but it was fun.
Did you have any wind damage?

Well, not this time, I had the flying trampoline (recorded in my journal) a couple of weeks ago, but I'm pleased to say this time we managed to tie everything down in time. I was nearly blown off my feet coming out of work on Thursday (the manual doesn't believe there is a wind that strong)
Pretty fierce storm all the same and more of the same to come if the forecast is to be believed.
Venue was Odyssey arena, great show, but not really a 'proper' band if you see what I mean, that's why I was sooooo shocked at the price I think it was actually £54, and we only went because the child is a big Queen fan and more to the point a Brian May fan. That said, Paul Rodgers was brilliant and I think it was worth it for the memory. Some people have said 'it couldn't be the same without FM', but I have to say it wasn't the same, it was different and brilliant in it's own right, so I'm glad I went - couldn't fault it.

, hey your on line the same time as me
My brother-in-law has got me tickets to see a band called Hammerfall at Camden Palace, tickets £15, i have never heard of them but the support group is a band called Krokus, who i used to love in the 80's and didnt even know they were still going, good solid rock band

I'm online to work on a guide entry - I've been putting it off since the turn of the year.
Krokus I haven't heard of them in such a long long time. I thought they were dead or something. I bet it'll be a great night, and £15 a ticket can't be bad.
We tried to get tickets for the Muse a few weeks ago, but no joy, and now with the kid we can't just turn up at the door like we used to. We saw many a great show like that in days long gone by - Rory Gallagher, Motorhead, Gary Moore....... ah those were the days.

Hi Bov,
If you get online this week, nip around to A19091289 and post your top 3 favourite tracks for the poll.
Sorry you've been sick
Marmite Posted Jan 23, 2007
I will pop there as you said
I dont go to concerts much anymore, but 80's and 90's i spent a fortune on tickets to all the good rock bands around, my last gig was Rose Tattoo in 2004, that was brilliant, before that was Judas Priest and AC/DC in 2001, then its way back to the mid 90's

It was really hard to pick just 3 songs wasn't it.
I ended 'plumping' for my 3rd one - I just couldn't decide and now I wish I'd picked GnR November Rain.
Still, it'll be interesting to see the results - couldn't be any rarer than some of the end of the year polls.

Have finally got broadband, they mucked it up at first so i couldnt get on line for over a week
Hows you doing
Sorry you've been sick
Fizzymouse- no place like home Posted Feb 2, 2007
I'm doing great - have to have and ECG on Monday - but so long as it's still ticking I'm
Broadbands great, but I still remember being offline for ages when it was being set up - and despite all the advertising it rarely stays connected 24/7 - mine takes a plunge as and when it likes.
You will enjoy the superfast downloading.

Marmite Posted Feb 5, 2007
Whats the reason for the ECG then, are you having problems
Since Friday (when it was set up) this is the first time i have been on here, the kids have hogged it all weekend.
As we had dial-up the kids couldnt really be bothered as it was too slow, but now it fast i cant get them off it

Oh, I've had a clicky valve in my heart all my life - a murmur sort of thing and it's playing up at the moment. Awaiting hospital appointment. But what can you expect when you get past 40
What you need now is wireless and a lap-top - if you ever want to benefit from the broadband - once the kids have it it's a lost cause. Thankfully my little angel is too busy at the moment to be bothered what with Drama, Guides, Scottish dancing, Nintendo DS .... long may it last.

Marmite Posted Feb 6, 2007
Oh blimey, i hope all goes well with the ticker then, what happens to you when it plays up?
We were thinking of a laptop but decided on a new pc to stay in one place, my kids are always losing things, i could just see it now.
"Hey, Chris, wheres the laptop mate"
"I dont know dad, i had it just now, but its gone"

Fizzymouse- no place like home Posted Feb 6, 2007
Well when it plays up I just sort of get palpitations, a teeny tiny pain and sort of breathless - but I expect the hospital will have something for me if ever I get my appointment.
Yes I know what you mean about the computer staying put - I have ours in the corner of the living room, just so as I can keep an eye on the kid when she uses it, and of course I always know where it is.
Oh and my big news this week is my daughter passed her 11+, so now we just have to wait to see if she gets into the grammar school she's picked.
So how's work for you - still slack.
Sorry you've been sick
Marmite Posted Feb 7, 2007
Excellent news on the 11+
Is the grammar you have picked close to home or if she doesnt get that one how far is the next one.
My boy failed his 11+ by 2 points, his old school told us to appeal as he would probably get in, but in my mind i thought he might struggle so we sent him to the local comp school and he is doing really well, but time does fly, he has his GCSE's in May, 16 years old

Glad to hear work is going well I think that's good.
The school she's aiming for is more or less straight down the road, but she'll have to go on a . It's a really top notch school for little ladies, and I hope they don't produce too many little madams.
We told her last week before the results that what you do at school, any school is entirely up to yourself. We've all seen people totally waste the grammar school experience and my brothers two kids both came from secondary high schools and went on to do A levels and degrees.
I'm sure you're glad he's doing so well at his chosen school - with the exams too. With kids it just goes from stress to stress.
Sorry you've been sick
Marmite Posted Feb 8, 2007
Fingers crossed for her then, when will you find out if she is accepted at the school
I think they need to start a new GSCE ourse called Common Sense, lots of kids pass exams but a good percentage dont have the common sense to make any use of the passed tests.
Sorry you've been sick
Fizzymouse- no place like home Posted Feb 8, 2007
we won't know if she's been accepted to the school until the end of May beginning of June - the primary school system surely know how to wring out the parents in their last year. We've been stressed doing the practise tests sinc Easter 2006 - then the actual exams in November - then the results last Saturday now just the long run to June - just about every emotion under the sun.
I've noticed that, in work, we have a couple of kids in the office I manage, and granted they've maybe not been at the best schools, but they do seem to lack the most basic common sense. I ask them to do basic tasks and leave them to it only to return and think still, they'll learn I imagine. Another thing I've noticed is spelling - now I was never the best at spelling in school, but youngsters nowadays don't know where to start (I'll include my own daughter in that), even my brother's two kids with their degrees can't spell properly.
Now look what you've done - got me up on my soapbox again.
Sorry you've been sick
Marmite Posted Feb 9, 2007
I know what you mean, its kind of scary that kids now a days seem to lack the basic ingredient of english that is spelling, i think that txt chat might have something to do with it, and speaking of txt chat what is that all about.
My daughter sent me a txt last week and i seriously didnt know what she was going on about, i had to get my lad to decode it for me

Fizzymouse- no place like home Posted Feb 9, 2007
Text chat is really wrong on so many levels, I can't bring myself to do it - how old am I
When I was a kid at school my Mum woudn't spell anything for me I had to use an old Blackies School Dictionary - to look up all the words for my homework. I'm still not a great speller, but at least I know how to use a dictionary. In school now, the kids don't loose marks for poor spelling as long as their work is understandable. That's a big mistake - my Sarah is too lazy to look up a word in a dictionary - she'd rather just sound it and hope for the best.
Best hope she never has to text me anything really important - by the time I've worked it out anything could have happened
