I remember when i was a kid that neat handwriting was an issue, but now
it seems that any old scribble will do
Doing an english exam, spelling, handwriting and punc were the main ingredients, that doesnt seem to be the case at my boys school

It's the same at most schools now unfortunately, I can remember having to do homework in a rough book first then copy it neatly into my homework book - if I suggest that to my daughter now she just - the very idea of wasting sooooo much time on homework.
I sometimes wonder where we'll all be in 50 years from now (apart from dead of course) when all the folks who can read and write 'properly' are no more. What would our politicians say if there weren't the speech writers feeding them their eloquent speeches. Even the teachers don't seem to be as well educated as they used to be.
I think you and I were born too late - we're watching the end of 'civilisation' as it was once known.

Well it's more about mistypes of and - as the night wears on the *others* and creep into my conversations.
That darn preview button has come in handy on more than a few occasions.
There's a whole journal entry about it somewhere - not mine I'm pleased to say.
In 50 years I'll be 95 or dead depending on a lot of things.

Life just seems to speed up - all of a sudden - I blame the kids myself.
So what do you think of your new broadband then.
Sorry you've been sick
Marmite Posted Feb 12, 2007
I blame the kids for everything, even for being kids
I love the broadband experience, downloading porn is so quick...apparently...er so someone told me....emm i heard a geezer in the pub telling his mate

Well you can tell a lot about a person by the company they keep.
It's great isn't it - never a dull moment now - always something to download - and soooo exciting to see if you've got what you asked for.
So has the novelty worn off for the kids then - is that why you've got your turn at last.

I go on Youtube a lot to look at music videos, especially AC/DC ones i have never seen, live gigs not on DVD etc, just key in the band you want and it comes up with tons of videos. It used to take a good 20 minutes to download one 5 minute song, but now it load straight away.
Nah, the kids are still in with the novelty, a thing called Limewire song downloads

Aha, limewire, my old stomping ground - great and such a lot of choice, but tell them to be careful and check things out with bitzi if going for videos or movies.
Broadband really revolutionises tinternet experience - everything is so much less hassle - even banking and shopping - never mind this place.

not entirely sure - I don't think you're supposed to 'file-share' but millions do.
I suspect if you're not making a living from it - personal use only - they'd be hard pushed to make an example of you.
You do get a warning on limewire tho' when a license is required.

We have downloaded songs without any problem so far, so yea, most of the ones that i have done are old songs from LP's that i used to have, and musicals, as i love musicals
Sorry you've been sick
Fizzymouse- no place like home Posted Feb 12, 2007
We have loads of music from it - some old, some not so old and movies - ok, we've already seen them in the cinema, but hey - it's not like we're making any money out of them.
My kid has an insatiable appetite for musicals, adventures, and every now and again does no harm - I just couldn't see me making a career out of it.

Been there - done that.
It's worse when it happens in the morning and your standing under the shower with your hair covered in suds.

None of them you'd like to see - believe me
A couple of years ago we had a mouse in the house - I got up from bed - starkers - and went to the loo - when at that very moment out runs the mouse right in front of me it disappeared behind the bath panel and was never seen or heard off again. The other half says he wasn't a bit surprised there are some things even a mouse can't stomach.

Marmite Posted Feb 19, 2007
You could make a lot of money as the 'Mouse Scarer', i hear it pays well.
We had mice some years back and bought a couple of those humane traps, great we thought, put them out in the garden and they came back
Sorry you've been sick
Fizzymouse- no place like home Posted Feb 19, 2007
We keep the humane traps down in the hope that the mice surrender.....failing that we bring the snappy traps out.
We once tried to poison a particularly persistant mouse, but we must have been doing something wrong - all we found was blue poo.
