As far as I know it's affecting quite a few streets not just ours, everyone was out this morning complaining lol. They are building some new houses across the road from us and last time they hit a pipe so we had no water so we thought it was them again, but they said it wasn't them this time.

Marmite Posted Nov 29, 2006
Trying to pass the buck are they.
That must be a nightmare having no water, it goes to show how we take things for granted, no water and panic sets in

Whats_ina_name Posted Nov 29, 2006
Well it's back on now the first thing I did was flush the toilet lol! The water came through all muddy at first but it's ok now at least. And I can't get out of doing the washing up now lol!
I suppose it's like when you have a power cut, that's when you realise how much we rely on it and take it for granted.

We havent had a power cut for years, i used to love them as a kid or even an adult
Forgetting where you put the candles in case of a power cut, torch that doesnt work and screaming all the time, ah them were the days

Whats_ina_name Posted Nov 30, 2006
Yep it's actually quite fun, I remember playing cards in the candlelight and board games when we had a power cut once.

Marmite Posted Nov 30, 2006
Oh, you have come online just as i am about to go
I might just turn the power off manually here and not tell the kids and pretend we have a power cut

Hi again, it's not often we're on the same time.
Lol that's a evil plan but I like it! Might get them to appreciate electricty more. A lesson in how much we rely on electricty

Hi BK, how things?
I've got my xmas tree up now I went to argos and the queue was out of the door, in fact I spent an hour in there waiting for the stuff and I'd reserved it online. I'm glad I'm nearly done now, I can imagine what the shops will be like as xmas gets nearer.

I think we are putting up the decks this weekend, some old xmas tree, the wife always wants a real one at xmas and by the time it comes around she just says 'sod it get the old one out of the loft'
We did some xmas shopping last thursday and it was packed, i thought why arent all these people at work
Drums
Whats_ina_name Posted Dec 6, 2006
Lol they haven't got time for work, they're too busy shopping!
We haven't got a real tree, but hubby said he wants a real one next year. The thing that worries me about real xmas trees is, don't the pine needles always fall off? I remember reading something that the sudden change in temperature can do that.

Xmas tree needles
They fit inside the front room easy, all nice and intact, but 3 weeks later when its time to get rid of it, you take it through the same doorway and a second later it is completely naked, needles everywhere.
Artificial one, straight into a box and packed away

Exactly so much easier and cheaper coz you don't have to buy one again the next year
Remember we were talking about power cuts, well we had one yesterday. It was just for a few hours but we did have to use candels coz it was pretty dark, it looked really christmassy with all the candels lit and with the tree being up, I hope it wasn't you sabotaging our electricity supply seen as you like power cuts so much lol!

Yipee, power cut, excellent fun, nope it wasnt me, i must seriously sort on out for down here.
We had a amazing storm yesterday, it lasted about 3 minutes with rain, hail, gale winds, thunder and lightning, it was unreal, then about 10 minutes later it hit London and they had that tornado, that was the same storm that went over us

Whats_ina_name Posted Dec 11, 2006
I saw on the news about that tornado, it probably happened at the worst time of the year as well with christmas coming up and ppl being homeless, it's quite scary to think it passed over you, I guess you were the lucky ones. We have had high winds here that brought some scaffolding down onto a car that was waiting at the traffic lights in town but luckily no-one was hurt. And hubby was driving home last night and some plastic board flew off a building and wedged under the car and he nearly crashed into a barrier!
Watched over the hedge at the weekend was really funny and we also watched my super ex-girlfriend that was really funny as well

The weather has been kinda crazy recently, still struggling with the decking in garden...damn rain.
10 of those houses that got hit by the tornado are to be demolished, blimey those poor people, i cant imagine that, lets hope they have house and building insurance other wise they are buggered
We got 'Over the Hedge' the other day, i loved it also, and 'Cars', that is brilliant
I love those computer generated cartoon films

Whats_ina_name Posted Dec 13, 2006

I think the kids have all the cartoon ones plus we also have Sky, so when the premier movies come on the likes of BBC1 etc, for xmas day, boxing day, we have already seen them.
The dvd world has ruined in a way the magic of the big xmas films, as most people have already seen them, when i was a kid you looked forward to the movie premier of a film on xmas day or flick through the tv guide to see what films you want to see, alas days gone by
Drums
Whats_ina_name Posted Dec 14, 2006
Yeah I know what you mean we also have sky but we cancelled the movie channel in the end coz they seem to just repeat the movies over and over again. But your right by the time they come on tv you have already seen them and have them on DVD,some I don't mind watching again but if there is one I really want to watch I'll got to the cinema or rent the DVD any way. I've got my son pirates of the caribbean 2 dead mans chest, we watched it at the cinema but he wanted it on DVD it amazes me how many times kids can watch movies lol he must have watched the first pirates movie a million times lol!

Marmite Posted Dec 14, 2006
I think my youngest knows the complete script to Cars already, how many times can one watch a film and then think thats enough
I loved the new Pirates film, i think its better than the first one
