Hi BK, just had a nosey on your page and saw that you play the drums. How long have you been playing them for?
I'm just learning to play the guitar now, it is a classical one but I'm hoping to move onto an electrical one when I get better at it. Then I might even be able to learn some foos.

Thats really cool that you have been playing that long you must be really good on the drums by now!
I've only been learning since last christmas. I'd always wanted to learn and my father in law got me a classical guitar for xmas last year. I'm still learning so I'd rather not say I was good lol, but I'm hoping I'll get there and I'm finding it is fun learning and hopefully I will get better in the end, and if I don't well I'll have fun trying!

Thats good keep it up, even if you never get that good it doesnt matter a bit, but with practise you will enjoy it more, and then you never know, i can see it now......
"Dave Grohl's Foo Fighters featuring CherylWhats the rock queen"
I learnt to play on a classical also, and it felt weird when i changed to electric, but i still use both.
My claim to fame is that the band i was in supported Def Leppard at the London Marquee in 1979, before they made it, we also supported them at Hammersmith Odeon were there they supporting AC/DC in the same year. Leppard made, but alas we didnt

Hi BK
Like the idea of the rockqueen I'm sure I'll get there eventually, like you say if I keep practicing.
Cool @ you supporting def leppard before they made it and at least you can say that much Did your band actually get anything recorded in a recording studio to release?

Rockqueen, we did to demos at 2 recording studios, one in London where Leppard recorded to tape a demo 4 song single that featured on their fost album "On Through the Night", and again in Reading, the demos were sent to various companies, not with much luck, and some songs were played on Radio 1 in 1980, with the great Tommy Vance(r.i.p.) on the Friday Rock Show, but we never got any further
Anyway I have enjoyed and still enjoy it all

That's still really cool that you had something played on the radio, I guess it's tough in the world of music, I sometimes wonder about the ammount of rubbish music that is around at the mo and there is probably alot of better stuff out there that never gets the chance to be released
the main thing is you still enjoy it

Yea i still love it, the problem was that towards of the punk era here, there was a change from punk to a rock sort of things and in the UK, loads of bands thought we can do that and flooded the system, so many a good band never made it, i am not saying that we were the next iron maiden, but we did it cause we loved it, whether we made it or not, but so many bands just wanted the next number 1 song, we werent like that.
We just loved to rock

Are you having lessons at guitar or teaching yourself from a book or such
Drums
Whats_ina_name Posted Sep 25, 2005
I have been teaching myself so far from books and also using Cd's so I can hear how it is supposed to sound which helps alot.
I think I will get proper lessons eventually, my hubby knows a guy in a band and he said he would be happy to help me learn.

It's a shame your band never made it, I'm sure you were good Have you got any recorded music stuff you did? Coz if you have at least you have that to look back on. Do you still play with your band or have you all gone your seperate ways now? <just being nosey lol

Using books and cd's are ok, and its a good way to learn and practice in private, but if you can get a one on one to teach you then go for it, you will be amazed how much quicker you will pick things up

I have also found watching ppl play does help too I should probably get lessons if I want to learn the electric guitar as well. I might put one on my xmas list. I just wanted to build some confidence up in myself before getting lessons if that makes sense.

Marmite Posted Sep 25, 2005
Yea that makes sense, the more you play the more stronger you will feel and once you master the basic chords and finger settings, the sky is the limit, put never feel you have to do it to prove a point, just enjoy learning and playing, then the rest will come, believe me

Well I am enjoying it so far, I'm quite stubborn so even when I get stuck I don't give in to easily lol! If I do keep getting stuff wrong though I usually just leave it for a while and then get back to it coz it can get frustrating otherwise.
