About the SRG

I've come to the conclusion that I'm just not around hootoo often enough these days to maintain the Scottish Researchers Group pages (A599376 and A2263826) properly. That's what happens when you get a proper job So Demon Drawer (U104826) has kindly agreed to administer things from now on.
Meanwhile, I'll be in the bar

A position came up in our research group a while ago for an analytical electron microscopist. I didn't apply for it at the time as I still had some time to go on my current contract, and I don't have much experience in the area anyway. The post was advertised and filled as usual. We were waiting for the new post-doc to arrive.
And waited... and waited. After three weeks or so of radio silence it was decided that she might have gone off to get another job. So someone who could at least drive an electron microscope (yup), was avaliable (gonna be made redundant in a month, so...) and willing (hey, it's a three year contract) was required. Hmmm...
I was interviewed for the job today I fluffed the interview pretty badly I was the only candidate being interviewed by people in the same group I've worked in for the last 5 years or so
I start in May

"The Hitchhiker's Guide to the Galaxy is a wholly remarkable book. It has been compiled and recompiled many times and under many different editorships. It contains contributions from countless numbers of travellers and researchers."
