It took 8 hours.
If I'd known I wouldn't have started in the evening.
errrrrrrrr, how do you take a computer off standby?
The wireless keyboard has buttons along the top that have never worked. yesterday they suddenly started working , but there was one in the middle that didn't have an obvious symbol. It has a crescent moon so, knowing the kbd is supposed to have a light, I thought perhaps...

8 hours - thats on a 56k modem dial up jobby I suspect - crickey - what ISP are you with????
The crescent moon is often a sort of sleep / snooze mode thingy. Touch the button and after a minute or so it'll jump into action (maybe on Microsfot time though )
Depends on the keyboard and the software that came with it - you could always read the manual as well mind

Reading the manual - now that's a novel thought!
mind you it's in Japglish
Tesco. It's not their fault, it's BT's dodgy phone lines . The perils of living in a rural area.

something about Hai Karaté eh!
Tesco - I'm with them for the next 3 days - £12.49 per month - OK unless you get a problem though - then I found they weren't particularly friendly
3 days time I go to Tiscali - £15.00 per month for broadband and includes telephonje calls - free over the weekend - seems like a good deal - we'll see eh!

fair enough - I guess the rest must depend on "customer service" eh!
Probably all as bad as the rest eh!

Well at the time Tefkat that I last posted I'd just got into all sorts of trouble for losing the only car key.I thought that the wheelbarrow might make a handy substitute and good peace offering.
Sorry to be so slow in this convo but I've gone back to having to work,so expect gaps in communications.

perhaps we should move her to the front of the class where we can watch her McKay.
how did you manage to lose the only car key? Is it OK now - have you found it?
I have all my kes in one gigantic bunch so that i can't possibly go out with the wrong ones - and it's very hard to lose. A bit weighty though. never manage with an evening gown and a tiny velvet bag

Yes a great big bunch of keys with every key you possess.Been there done that. That's when you lose every key you possess in one go because someone nicks your handbag. I did that and ever since I keep my keys apart. That way even when I lost the car key(one to unlock and for ignition) I still could get back into my house.
Anyway the RAC arranged for my car to be transported to the dealership shop where they cut me TWO new keys...
However hubby had to try very hard not to shout and not to grumble. He wasn't very good at hiding it though.

I'm extremely lucky. Lurch never gets upset when i do things like that because he's always doing them himself. he once put the petrol tank cap on top of the car while filling up and then drove home without putting it back in. of course, somewhere along the line it flew away.
Mind you, I topped that one when we first got the current camper. the first time I filled it up i wondered why it took 102 litres. Then I noticed the gauge was still saying it was empty...
Well how was I to know the word "Wasser" meant "water"?
Took ages to clean out that water tank.

Just to introduce a serious note - a weighty bunch of keys breaks your ignition lock - eventually. The weight of it swinging is more than the ignition is designed to bear.

I never knew that...
I haven't done anything too terrible since. However he now has a cold and is in an even fouler mood so I'm keeping quiet.
Though he's peeved that I got approved for a credit card and he didn't.

My hubby's got a cold too, so he's given up all his usual chores & gone to bed. I've just put the wheelie bin out using the oven mitts, being the nearest gloves available.

Now he's still peeved I got the CC but now I have the cold. He's also peeved because I'm too ill to cook.
I think I shall have to go back to bed...

Just leave the cookery book and the oven gloves on the table with a note saying you can't cook because your nose won't stop running
